Didn't St. Aug. change after the storm?
More so operational. However the foundation for which the school was founded is still the same.
"The Archdiocese of New Orleans placed the school under the patronage of St. Augustine of Hippo, a preeminent Christian and scholar of Africa, and a Father of the Church. This was appropriate since from its inception the school was designated for the education of young men from Black Catholic families of New Orleans. Although St. Augustine now welcomes students of any national or ethnic background, it has remained the leading secondary school for black males in Louisiana, and is nationally recognized in educational circles for outstanding success in preparing its students for higher education".
Now if you're basing your opinion about the school due to TM's situation, that's not a fair assessment. Hell, I know several St.Aug alums that smoke weed and are considered gutter just like I know several that are very successful and prominent. In TM's case he made a bad decision that he has to deal with. The school shouldn't be heal accountable for his personal actions. At any rate, if you want to see a good example of what the school has produced and will continue to produce you're welcome to come have lunch with me at the state capitol in the House of Representatives cafeteria on me. Or you can come on a day that I have to address one of the legislative committees on the fiscal status of the state.
