Didn't St. Aug. change after the storm?

More so operational. However the foundation for which the school was founded is still the same.

"The Archdiocese of New Orleans placed the school under the patronage of St. Augustine of Hippo, a preeminent Christian and scholar of Africa, and a Father of the Church. This was appropriate since from its inception the school was designated for the education of young men from Black Catholic families of New Orleans. Although St. Augustine now welcomes students of any national or ethnic background, it has remained the leading secondary school for black males in Louisiana, and is nationally recognized in educational circles for outstanding success in preparing its students for higher education".

Now if you're basing your opinion about the school due to TM's situation, that's not a fair assessment. Hell, I know several St.Aug alums that smoke weed and are considered gutter just like I know several that are very successful and prominent. In TM's case he made a bad decision that he has to deal with. The school shouldn't be heal accountable for his personal actions. At any rate, if you want to see a good example of what the school has produced and will continue to produce you're welcome to come have lunch with me at the state capitol in the House of Representatives cafeteria on me. Or you can come on a day that I have to address one of the legislative committees on the fiscal status of the state.

So why would they deny JSU the right to talk to him and hand him over to McNeese State?

JSU and PV were originally on his considerations list, but they both have Southern University connections, and to go a little further they both have SWAC connections.....could you imagine if the flood gates opening where our athletes started back going to our schools and then going on to the leagues(NFL, NBA, etc) and being ultra successful....that would totally destroy that BS that they have been firmly planting in these youngsters heads for decades now....could you just imagine the world of college sports being righted....(Dreaming....but oh what a time, what a time, what a time)....

Paranoya and good business sense makes you nip even the smallest of concerns and potential threats in the bud....

Alpha always jumping up to defend St. Aug...

I don't blame him. St Aug is a good school. If I had been born and raised in New Orleans it would have been at the top of my list of HS to attend. Great tradition there. Can't knock them. Alpha3 is just a proud alum. My Line bruh and some of band crab brothers from St. Aug are the same way. My classmate Avery Johnson is like that too about St. Aug.

They are just hard core. JSU had a Drum Major who is my frat brother back in the 80s that we still call St. Aug. LOL.

Aye Pops, we alum of BTW in Atlanta are the same way. It is just how we are raised. Our homecoming has folks tail gating and the turnout is just as big as the AUC homecomings, if not bigger.

to be perfectly honest with you all, in my opinion staying at LSU is the best thing he could do in this situation. They'll let him play again next year, as long as he fixes his problem...and that is the main thing in his life right now fixing that problem and not football. I think he needs to sit out a year, get his life together. While he is a pretty good student that weed thing could enventually cost him millions. I would recommend a heavy dose of rehab and college courses and that would be all for this young man (oh and Church). He has too much to loose, all behind a quick high....

Plus him leaving to go to another school to play immediately is really taking a chance for him....no hating on the kid cause he is indeed a playmaker, but if he were to go and play 1AA ball, pretty much anywhere in the country he would give up the luxury of having a D-Line that sends two or three to the pros every year....And anyone who knows football knows that a Super D-Line is a Cornerback BEST friend....At pretty much any 1AA school that he would choose, just based on who he is and his status, they would be looking for him to be a shut down, cover corner....and truth be told, that is actually his weakness....Saban pointed that out in the championship game and it was also evident in various other games last season....He is actually one of those really good athletes that needs to be around other great athletes to cover up his short commings....He would be taking a chance at being exposed by going 1AA and if that were to happen there goes his draft status....

All in All I think Tyraan is a good kid that has made some bad choices, and the best move for him athleticly, but more importantly as the young man and for his future is to stay down there, get rehab, continue to get good grades and clean his life up....consentrate on football next year when they let him back on the team...and you know they will.....

I think St. Aug is a good school too JR but Alpha done invited the man to a presentation at work. That is serious man. Jag89 better back off. That Jaguar Nation alliance gone go out the window.

Oh I heard about you ninjas too. I kind of wish I would have went to a black high school so I could have those bonds. It was only 60 black people at my high school, I left that joker running.

Among the schools interested in Mathieu is Jackson State. But Mathieu and his family are considering having Mathieu attend LSU this fall off scholarship after he was disappointed with his visit to McNeese State, an FCS school in Lake Charles, La.

"He did not like it at McNeese," said NFL draft expert and WWL Radio analyst Mike Detiller, who has been in contact with the Mathieu family. "The family wants him to stay at LSU. They really like the support system he has there with the football program."

Where in the blue hell was this support system the three times he got caught with drugs in his system. To me looks like that support system sucks
Family must be getting paid.

Pops we be doing it up. I leave all expensive stuff at home and drive a rental that weekend, but it is good seeing them crazy fools. :emlaugh:

If you are referring to Piyush "Bobby" Jindal, he graduated undergrad from Brown University and attended grad school at the University of Oxford.

You're right, He was the LSU football concession boy growing up. I knew there was some type of relationship. :emlaugh:

Im sure he was assigned some one but realistically how much control would they have over what he does and doesnt do. At some point in time he has to say I have to let this vice go. Cause Rodger Goddell aint playing with all these chances

Do you realize you just contradicted yourself:(...truth is the way this kid thinks...starts at home...and when he was suspensed last season...uncles should have step in and got real with him....not knowing these people only what I have read of their story...I have a feeling it was not taken too serious about him smoking a little weed...hell alot of you here don't see what the harm is in lighting up...so he keeps doing it and with all the fake as love he was getting...Well this people(family included) must have never told him he is not bigger than the institution!

Next time I'm in the State of louisiana, I might have to take you up on your offer.

No one is holding St. Aug. accountable for TM's actions, but to make a bold statement that St. Aug. don't produce certain type of people is beyond me. Like you said, there are successful St. Aug. alum and there are some that is considered gutter. IMO, every predominatey Black high school that have survived intergration has a success story to tell, for example, McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I agree completely. Tyrann's family is looking at the big picture. The NFL is nice but they are looking out for his best interest as a person, so he must deal with his drug issue first and foremost. From what I've read at Tigerdroppings, Tyrann's family felt a transfer while he's already depressed would only bring about another relapse. And, they're probably right. I think LSU jumped the gun with the initial press conference because they assumed Tyrann's was ready to jump to the NFL ASAP. I think LSU never thought he'd offer to sit out this season and return for his senior year. Regardless, I'm pulling for Tyrann.

Not shocked at this at all. He is going to stay. McNeese facilities are terrible. So I am not shocked he didn't like it. Plus it is Lake Charles. Probably too country and small for him. LOL.

Contrary to what you may believe, LSU had people assigned to monitor Tyrann. But, those people can only do so much. Ultimately, Tyrann is responsible for his actions. Furthermore, LSU isn't trying to mess over Tyrann - the leader of the football team and face of the football program. Lastly, LSU won't shit the bed with a St. Aug. alum! That ain't gon' happen! Having a good relationship with St. Aug is key to LSU football recruiting. And, LSU is already battling for Leonard Fournette as is.
3 people lol.

Nothing is absolute. I think I used the phrase "as a rule of thumb" relating to slave mentality.

Jag89 is a citizen or once was one of this state, and he's welcomed there anytime. I was just inviting him to lunch and trying to get him involved with how his tax dollars are spent.

Being that they are probably the only all boys Black private high school in the State of Louisiana, I think St. Aug. is a great school too, but I would never put them on a pedestal higher than my high school. Peabody Magnet High School has a very rich tradition too.

Go back and read my previous post.

Mcneese just remodeled their weight room. Heard its really nice.

Compared to what he has experienced at LSU? Remember a pig with lipsticks is still a pig. :emlaugh:

There's no other college football facility in the State of Louisiana that can compare to LSU. And speaking as a young 20 year old knucklehead, it's going to be hard for him to give that up.
