LSU Denies Southern Request to meet with Tyrann Mathieu?!?

This is kinda to the point of this conversation, but some of you may remember when right after USL changed its name to ULL and they redid the sign on I-10 just before their campus and it said the "University of Louisiana" and they didn't put the "At Lafayette" part on it...Wow...I remember the uproar there was around here...

I listen to a lot of local talk shows every day (of course most of them heavily LSU based), well a lot of the fans and even some administrator lost it....All day for at least a week and a half.... "Who do they think they are? We are the Flagship University of this state. How dare they call themselves the "University of Louisiana". They are not the Flagship...They have to fix that sign...and so on and so on.....man that was the most entertaining and funniest sh!t i had heard on the radio in a long time....I found myself not being able to wait until I could get back in my truck and just listen to some more....Man they were pissed!...Well long story short...after about two weeks of crying and bitching they finally changed the sign....

So it aint just Southern that they have in their Crosshairs...

best coaching? Not sure about that as any coach will tell you the best athlete makes it easier to coach. Those same SEC coaches have came in the SWAC only to fail so who knows

But seriously, some of those SEC athletes ain't the brightest and if they leave the farm and make it to the SWAC or so, it's a shame how the system allows below average student-athletes to slide based on athletics.

LSU is unique as they don't share the spotlight with NO ONE in Louisiana as the rest of the FBS teams are second to third-tier teams. They have mind control over the state and the other FBS programs as that allows the FCS HBCU teams to carve their own niche

Again, this is a business decision...they understand business....we at times don't....you don't give your competition any kind of leg up...in any way if you can help it...and this is what it would be...and attention grabber, a focus diversion...they want all the attention, not some, all....

And for all those who don't think we are LSU's competition for attention in Baton Rouge and the metro area then please really go into your minds and use the logical parts of your brains....attention sways fans, and potential students...and that is what we compete with them for and they with us EVERY DAY!

I understand what you are saying and know about the attention LSU gets in the city and the state. My points are about the mentality of those at LSU. I know some about Louisiana politics. The big schools understand the use and need for public relations.

If LSU has the season they did last year, media outlets like the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will cover LSU and not worry too much what happens at Southern. If LSU loses five games this year, they will still get a lot of attention. I still think that those at LSU need to get over themselves. Paranoia can drive some crazy.

This is in the paper today.

School officials said Monday that Mathieu is free to re-enroll at the university and pay his own way, but they have not addressed the possibility of him returning to the football team, or if such a possibility even exists.

So, he is not at the school anymore? If that's the case, can he pick where he wants to go?

Reading the article in the Clarion Ledger seems as though this kid will be back at LSU. He is the one blocking any HBCU from contacting him about transferring. He also seemed to not have liked his trip to McNeese either so he will probably be back at LSU

No one is officially in school until they pay their tuition and fees. But yes he can go where he wants, the issue is whether they will release him to allow him to play immediately at that school, or will he have to sit out.

All this is mute Les Miles never denied Stump according to Les on yesterday.

Yeah sure he didn't. People will say anything in the media.

What I don't seem to understand is how they say, he won't have a future at LSU anymore but won't give him his release papers. They are basically holding the dude HOSTAGE.

All of you all are not absolute wrong or right. There is a lot going on with this situation.

1) True LSU don't see themselves competing for athletes that S.U. goes after. However also true that LSU strategically use the SWOT analysis that adversely impact their competition in LA.
2) True BRCC is S.U. major problem relating to enrollment. Also true that S.U. is competed against LSU, ULL etc on a smaller scale than the aforementioned for a few students.
3) True S.U. has customer services issues but the classroom instruction doesn't have that issue.
4) True professors at schools like LSU work load is not as heavy and they have more time to help students, write books, go on the lecture scene or anything else they choose to do with their time.
5) True S.U. utilize antiquated business practices. It is also true that the university is underfunded in a red state governed by an LSU grad.
6) True LSU is more user friendly to black students than they were in the past. It is also true that S.U. in spite of lower enrollment continues to graduate more black students than LSU which is illustrated yearly in Diverse issues in higher education.

(I could go on but as you can see sometimes everything is not absolute....Think about it!)

If he was fully released he would be on his way but even then I think Tyrann is in a slave sense that he doesnt want to leave LSU....He is looking more and more like Maurice Clarett like situation..

I don't think so. As a rule of thumb, St. Augustine don't produce those type of people.

BS...it was because he understood that SU is a threat to their operation and he wanted to nip that shit in the bud...going to SU and being successful is, has been, and always will be a threat to them in their eye...believe what you want, but that's the real!

Preach!!! Matthieu's parents should file a petition with the NCAA and make this a media nightmare for LSU. He won't though because "He loves him some LSU"

And don't get me wrong it is not just Southern that is in LSU's crosshairs...it is every University in this state...Southern is just the immediate target....I mean at one time Tulane was on par with LSU...was even considered a Rival...remember that....but New Orleans is very fertile ground....seek and destroy....now look at Tulane's athletic programs vs LSU's...you don't think that was planned that way.....Louisiana Tech use to run Sh!t in women's college basketball, but just so happens that at the same time LSU rose to be a national power in Women's Basketball, LA Tech's program all but disappeared...I know you guys don't believe your "FLAGSHIP" University would actually do anything like seek out another school in its state and take its glory to have as a treasure at LSU...I know you guys think toooooo much of that great institution to think they'd stoop to such tactics as that......I know you don't think they would have basic BUSINESS practices as "Take out the Competition".....I know....I know....it all just happened to happen that way....WOW!

Preach My Brother!!!! LSU wants it all...why do you think the "delivered" Perriloux to Jacksonville State? Once they heard the rumor that he was considering Grambling, look out. Some say "LSU don't worry about losing 1 or 2 players" are delusional. It's what that could lead to that bothers them. Consider a crack in at the Hoover Dam...they don't patch it because of the leak, they patch it to stop the flood that follows the leak!

So why would they deny JSU the right to talk to him and hand him over to McNeese State?

Among the schools interested in Mathieu is Jackson State. But Mathieu and his family are considering having Mathieu attend LSU this fall off scholarship after he was disappointed with his visit to McNeese State, an FCS school in Lake Charles, La.

"He did not like it at McNeese," said NFL draft expert and WWL Radio analyst Mike Detiller, who has been in contact with the Mathieu family. "The family wants him to stay at LSU. They really like the support system he has there with the football program."

Where in the blue hell was this support system the three times he got caught with drugs in his system. To me looks like that support system sucks

Somebody better make sure Stump really made that call or he just trying to keep the Nation off his azz.

If you are referring to Piyush "Bobby" Jindal, he graduated undergrad from Brown University and attended grad school at the University of Oxford.

Contrary to what you may believe, LSU had people assigned to monitor Tyrann. But, those people can only do so much. Ultimately, Tyrann is responsible for his actions. Furthermore, LSU isn't trying to mess over Tyrann - the leader of the football team and face of the football program. Lastly, LSU won't shit the bed with a St. Aug. alum! That ain't gon' happen! Having a good relationship with St. Aug is key to LSU football recruiting. And, LSU is already battling for Leonard Fournette as is.

Im sure he was assigned some one but realistically how much control would they have over what he does and doesnt do. At some point in time he has to say I have to let this vice go. Cause Rodger Goddell aint playing with all these chances
