LITTLE ROCK, AR – The second of three SWAC tennis roundups concluded on Saturday with the Southern women and Arkansas-Pine Bluff men clinching the #1 seeds heading into next month’s Championship tournament.

The Lady Jaguars posted a 6-1 win over Prairie View A&M on Saturday to complete a sweep of the conference while flaunting a 8-0 record. SU claims its eighth consecutive #1 seed in the SWAC tournament. With a 5-3 SWAC record, Prairie View A&M clinches the #2 slot in the West division. Grambling State nabbed a 5-0 forfeit victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff to secure the West’s final spot in the 2010 tournament with a 3-5 slate.  UAPB falls to 1-7 on the season and is eliminated from the tournament.

With a 4-3 win over Grambling State on Saturday, the Univ. Arkansas-Pine Bluff men’s squad secures the #1 seed in the West with a perfect 7-0 conference mark. This is the second straight season the Golden Lions enters the tournament as a #1 seed.  Both Grambling State and Prairie View A&M finish with 5-2 slates as the Tigers claim the #2 seed with a win over the #3 Panthers on Friday for the head-to-head advantage.

The 2010 East Tennis Roundup is set for March 26-28 in Jackson, MS as the Eastern division squads will vie for the final slots in the 2010 SWAC Men’s & Women’s Tennis Championship.  The tournament will take place in Alexandria, LA April 16-18 with the top three schools from each division participating.
