Norfolk State wasted little time in announcing the women’s flag football program’s first head coach, coming straight from Michael Vick’s staff.
Veteran tight ends and offensive/defensive line coach Darryl Bullock was announced as head coach Thursday in a press conference officially launching the program.
The MEAC announced earlier this month the addition of women’s flag football and women’s golf as championship sports, beginning with the 2026-27 season.

Bullock was hired away from Hampton by Vick, continuing a coaching career that began as a grad assistant at the University of Michigan in 1991.
Bullock was a defensive lineman at Penn State, where he was a member of the 1986 national championship team. After his playing days, he served in a variety of coaching roles, including interim head coach of North Carolina Central’s football team following the firing of Mose Rison. Bullock finished the 2010 season with a 1-4 record.
