A day after officially announcing that they would be mutually parting ways with men’s basketball coach Luke D’Alessio, Fayetteville State did not take long to fill the vacant role.
The Broncos have announced that Devin Hoehn, former Bluefield State head coach, will be the team’s 19th men’s basketball coach in program history.
“We are thrilled to welcome Devin Hoehn to FSU,” said Fayetteville State Athletic Director Anthony Bennett. “Devin’s proven track record of success, his dynamic coaching style, and his commitment to developing players both on and off the court make him the perfect fit for our program. We look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on our team and the exciting future ahead for Broncos basketball under his leadership.”
Hoehn has spent the last four seasons as head coach of Bluefield State, leading the team to a 48-62 overall record, including a 14-19 record in two seasons of CIAA competition.
This past season, he led the Big Blue to their first winning season in over a decade with a 19-12 record. They finished second in the CIAA’s Northern division, led by Conference Player of the Year Jordan Hinds.
Bluefield State advanced to the CIAA championship game in the CIAA tournament and would eventually be selected to the Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament as an at-large bid.
“This is HOME!” said Hoehn upon the announcement of his being hired by Fayetteville State. “I am going to give the university everything I have.”
In five seasons under former head Luke D’Alessio, Fayetteville State compiled a 103-52 record and won two CIAA South division titles.
He helped lead the Broncos to a CIAA tournament championship in 2022, ending a 49-year drought without a conference title.
