The first day of July marked the official entrance of North Carolina A&T football into the Colonial Athletic Association as a full member.
In February 2022, the conference announced that an invitation had been accepted by NC A&T after a two-year stint in the Big South.
“We are pleased to welcome North Carolina A&T as the newest member of the CAA,” CAA Commissioner Joe D’Antonio said last February. “The Aggies fit perfectly into the framework of the Conference’s vision that calls for our membership to work together to advance nationally competitive athletic programs – coupled with outstanding academic programs – that empower student-athletes as whole persons to strive at the highest level in every aspect of their lives. The CAA is excited to add a second HBCU to its membership.”
North Carolina A&T will become the CAA’s 14th football member. Hampton is also a member of the conference.
The solidification of the move will mark the third conference in which the Aggies football program has competed. The Aggies were part of the MEAC, a conference in which they were a founding member before moving to the Big South in 2021.
