The Grambling State baseball team has made history with the signing of Class of 2023 recruit Martavius Thomas, the highest-rated baseball player to sign with an HBCU.
“I wanted to start my own dynasty and bring some love to HBCU baseball,” said Thomas in response to his decision to commit to Grambling State.
Thomas previously committed to Arkansas before his sophomore year of high school before flipping to Grambling State.

In addition to Arkansas and Grambling State, Memphis was also a school that Thomas considered signing.
The top recruit attends Camden Fairview in Arkansas, where he plays baseball as a shortstop and football as a quarterback.
In 11 baseball games, Thomas recorded a .457 batting average, 16 hits, seven stolen bases, scored 10 runs, and hit a home run in 35 at-bats.
Meanwhile, in football, he played 37 games, posting 5,898 passing yards completing 60% of his passes, and threw 61 touchdowns. He also added 2,072 rushing yards and scored eight TDs.
