NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton running back Yahkee Johnson was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today. North Carolina A&T State’s Franklin “Mac” McCain III was named the Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week.

North Carolina A&T State’s Brandon Parker was named Offensive Lineman of the Week honors while Delaware State punter Fidel Romo-Martinez was selected as Specialist of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

RICHMOND, VA.

Johnson ran for 132 yards on 12 attempts and scored three touchdowns in Hampton’s 59-0 win over Livingstone. The senior from Richmond opened the second half with a 73-yard run and averaged 11 yards per carry. Johnson also had 17 receiving yards to finish with 149 all-purpose yards.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

McCain intercepted two passes in North Carolina A&T State’s win over FBS foe Charlotte on Saturday evening. McCain’s first interception early in the third quarter led to an Aggie touchdown on the ensuing drive. The redshirt freshmen’s second interception was the biggest of his young career as he returned it 74 yards for a touchdown with 24 seconds remaining. Prior to the interception, Charlotte was within three points and driving for the potential game-tying field goal or go-ahead touchdown.

OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK

KANNAPOLIS, N.C.

Parker posted one his highest grades ever against FBS competition as the Aggies totaled 420 yards of offense at Charlotte last weekend. The senior from Kannapolis, N.C. graded out at 90 percent and recorded three pancake blocks.

BANNING, CALIF.

Romo-Martinez averaged 48 yards on seven punts at West Virginia on Saturday. The sophomore from Banning, Calif. totaled 336 yards and recorded four punts of 50-plus yards with a long of 57 while placing one punt inside the 20-yard line.

NOTABLE PERFORMERS

Bryan Cook (DB/Howard)
Cook recorded seven tackles (5 solo) against Richmond this past weekend.

Jequez Ezzard (WR/Howard)
Ezzard secured two receptions for a total of 70 yards; including a 42-yard touchdown at Richmond.

Javaunie Francis (P/(TE/Bethune-Cookman)
Francis averaged 36.5 yards per punt , including a 53-yarder at Florida Atlantic. Two of his punts landed inside the Owls’ 20-yard line. He also served once in kickoff formation to begin the game, with that kick going for 52 yards total.

Taylor Goettie (P/Norfolk State)
Goettie had a solid afternoon as he punted 10 times for a 42.8-yard average at James Madison. He posted career-highs in punts and punt average while also placing one punt inside the JMU 20. Goettie also had one tackle on special teams.

Ryan Gould (G/Hampton)
Gould helped lead an offensive line which produced 441 yards of total offense and its largest shutout since 1992 in a 59-0 win over Livingstone.

Brendan Greene (QB/Hampton)
Greene accounted for four touchdowns, going 11-of-13 passing for 129 yards and three touchdowns versus Livingstone. He scored his touchdown on a 20-yard run.

Raheim Huskey (LB/Hampton)
Huskey totaled four tackles (2 solo), an interception, pass break-up, and also had a quarterback hurry as Hampton blanked Livingstone.

Devin James (LB/Bethune-Cookman)
James recorded seven tackles, including three by way of a primary stop versus Florida Atlantic. He amassed a season-best two (2) tackles for loss on the night.

Rico Kennedy (LB/Morgan State)
Kennedy led Morgan State with 9 tackles (7 solo), 4.5 tackles for a loss, and a sack at Rutgers.

Guy Lemonier (WR/Howard)
Lemonier racked up 150 return yards, including a 36-yard kick return at Richmond. He also averaged 25 yards per return.

Darius Leonard (LB/South Carolina State)
Leonard totaled six tackles (3 solo), a sack, and a forced fumble en route to leading SC State to a shutout over Johnson C. Smith.

Ja-Quan Lumas (TE/Bethune-Cookman)
Lumas hauled in a team-high three receptions over the weekend against Florida Atlantic. The Orlando, Fla. native snagged a season-long 26-yard reception in the process.

James Mackey (P/North Carolina A&T State)
Mackey booted five punts for an average of 39.2 yards per punt with a career-best 46-yard punt.

Antonio Miller (DE/Florida A&M)
Miller recorded five tackles, one tackle loss and a forced fumble versus Tennessee State in the FAMU Tampa Classic.

Lamar Raynard (QB/North Carolina A&T State)
Raynard completed 62 percent of his passes against Charlotte on Saturday. He also ran for a career-high 61 yards on nine carries. His 259 yards passing was the most yards an Aggie has thrown for against FBS competition.

Diquan Richardson (SAF/B-CU)
Richardson picked off his second pass of the year at Florida Atlantic, as well as finishing second on the team with nine tackles (7 solo). He also defended a pass and forced a fumble on the Owls’ opening drive of the game, saving a touchdown for the Wildcats in the process.

Tyler Scandrett (K/South Carolina State)
Scandrett totaled 15 points as he kicked four field goals (39, 31, 32, 27) and three PATs in the win over Johnson C. Smith.

Ryan Stanley (QB/Florida A&M)
Stanley completed 21-of 34-passes for 216 yards; including an 18-yard touchdown pass in the final seconds of the fourth quarter versus Tennessee State.

Marcus Taylor (KR/Norfolk State)
Taylor had a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter at James Madison which set a new school record for longest kickoff return since 2008. The score was the first of Taylor’s college career. Taylor finished the day with 199 yards on seven kickoff returns, an average of 28.4 yards per return.

Nyfease West (RB/Delaware State)
West recorded 161 total yards from scrimmage; including an 81-yard touchdown at West Virginia. He finished the day with 161 all-purpose yards.
