Prairie View A&M’s Marching Storm was voted HBCU Sports’ band of the week for Week 1.
Polling, which began on Thursday, asked readers to select one of seven HBCU bands that were nominated for the weekly honor.
With over 2000 votes cast in the poll, 65 votes was the difference between first and second place.
The Marching Storm, voted HBCU Sports Band of the Year last season, garnered 40.79 (857 votes) percent of the votes, followed by Texas Southern finishing in second with 37.7 (792 votes) percent of the votes.
Jackson State finished in third place with 7.09 (194 votes) percent of the votes, followed by Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Southern, Grambling and Tennessee State.
