William & Mary to name Mike London new head coach

How about this. Stop hiring retreads that have already demonstrated they are not up to the task of making a program competitive against all competition & find the next mike london. give him the resources to do the job he's being asked to do.

Bro, every major conference has had or current has a black head coach. Yes there could be more, but this ain't the 1980s anymore my brother. We aren't just coffee fetchers and recruit bait. The SEC has had 3 schools with black head coaches. Two at very conservative schools (Texas A&M and Mississippi State).

Come to think of it, there have also been strides made at coordinator positions. Alabama currently has a black OC, Georgia has a black DC. And to your point about FCS... Mike London is now on his 2nd FCS PWI and has an FCS national title.

Hell, Auburn is one of THE most right wing universities in the south (less than 7% black with most black students shoved off to the Montgomery satellite campus) and they just hired a black AD!!

As sad as it is to say, we are the ones that have some catching up to do.

Auburn and Texas A&M have been rated as having the most conservative student bodies. Both have finished number one in the last 10 years. I am also surprised when any school finishes ahead of Texas A&M.

Some think it’s just salary but it’s bigger than that. You got to be willing to look into and change the way admissions, administration, etc. works if you get in bed with some coaches. And that means from the president in down in some isolated cases.

Case in point. Why did Alabama State hire Eley? His record at Morgan State was below average at best and he was there too long.

Eley can be an assistant. He's already had his try at HC

I wish there was a way for the conference to further incentivize teams that win to encourage them to make better decisions.

I appreciate your comments. You and I are on the same frequency regarding HBCU head coach hiring practices. HBCUs could have great football programs but the coaching, for the most part, simply isn't there. Many HBCUs are incredibly insular and downright hostile to new ideas and new people. Black Americans are now integrated and we need to integrate our coaches and get some diversity. Far too many Black folks want to benefit from diversity and get that job at a White institution but we don't want to do the same when it comes to hiring Whites or non-Blacks at Black institutions. Lets end that.

We have done a horrible job at keeping pace with the modern athletic environment. From administrative (APR issues) to on the field. How many of our schools have sold naming rights of a field or stadium to a corporate sponsor?
