Will Alcorn defeat Southern Miss?

I could be wrong, but I just don't see him leaving Alcorn for a Stephen F Austin or McNeese State. That's only because he might feel like he can continue to rack up wins at Alcorn. No matter how things are in this era, a winning coach in the SWAC is still going to receive more media attention than a Southland coach. I think Hopson knows this. Also, if Monk has another 1-11 year, USM won't will send him packing just like the coach before him. You can mark that down.

What are you talking about Southeast? Do you mean SLU? Southeastern Louisiana Lions? If so, I can definitely see your point. Although Roberts is doing an amazing job at SLU and was a beast at Delta State, Hopson has better recruiting ties to hot spot areas. However, Roberts knows how to rack up on SEC/Big 12 transfers. I do see your point, but if Hopson upsets USM, he will have big time edge.

:tup: @ bolded. A lot of us have said/known if he wins 8-9 games this year and wins the SWAC, he's gone. USM has become a bottom barrel FBS school in under 3 years but they are still FBS. Everything would be better by going to USM plus he's in an area that he's familiar with. No way I could see the folks at USM bringing in an outsider when they can see what Hopson is doing a couple hours away in Lorman.

Hobson isn't going anywhere. JSU had a white OC back in the 90s who was running over everyone in the SWAC. He could have left but he didn't. He stayed 8 years and the only reason he really left is that we didn't promote him to HC. He went on to be OC at Troy, Marshall, and Kent State ( or some school in Michigan). Alcorn fans and you black people just need to have more pride in yourselves. Hopson will stay at Alcorn unless a 1-A teams comes calling. He is not going to leave Alcorn for another FCS school because they pay probably won't even be better than what Alcorn pays. Recall that dude who was your OC before.. left Alcorn and then tried to come back.

Also, ANY AD with common sense will see that Hobson is padding his record. Last year, Alcorn was really a 7-4 team. This year, he is pulling that same schitt. If he wants a serious look, he needs to play the 9 game schedule and add two other FCS teams. Trust me, he is safe at Alcorn until ya'll run him away because, trust me, he won't win the SWAC or the EAST this year or next.

Yup. Hopson has Gulf Coast recruiting ties. He also knows the river/bayou area as well from his years of working with Buddy Teevens.

It was a fluke.. It made Alcorn's season. If not for THAT one win, Alcorn would not even be in the SCG conversation. We didn't give a dayum about Alcorn.

Dude, we beat everybody handily. You lost to lowly AAMU and got thrashed by AlaState and pretty much cheated po Valley. Trust me, the JSU win was a fluke.

Man. I am out here on the coast on business in Ocean Springs and I saw a sh_t load of Alcorn fans in Gulfport. I guess they wanted to hang out on the beach before heading to Hattiesburg. They seem fired up. Heard a few ads on the radio as well. Very impressive crowd. Good luck to the Braves. The SWAC looks to you for a FBS upset!
