Mistakes and crazy penalities do us in..They will be nervous and anxious that will result in penalities. If coach can keep them calm and play at their pace..we might squeek one out.

Lol. That's foolish. That's like saying that Appalachian State beating Michigan meant nothing if they didn't go on to win their conference. FCS vs FBS upsets are rare. If Alcorn finds a way to beat USM in this era, it will be something for folks to remember for a long time even outside the SWAC.
 
USM is awful and got destroyed by a Mississippi State team that is on another level this year. I think USM will more than likely win because of the offense they run and depth.
 
Alcorn is a still a SWAC team, but USM hasn't been competitive lately in the FBS. The top FCS teams would blow USM away!

I really believe Alcorn can win this game!

I actually think Alcorn can pull this off. Only bad part is that they might not ever play another SWAC school if that happens.
 
I think using BCU as a Example with any SWAC school is a bit of a Stretch, especially Alcorn... USM will bout run away with this Game..

Naw. USM's offensive line isn't seasoned. Alcorn's defensive line will not be dominated like we usually see from SWAC teams vs FBS opponents. The QB is young and they don't have 1 "go to" WR. The running game isn't anything to fear as well. Alcorn needs to worry about USM's defense more than anything. Their pass rush was horrible last season and didn't look good against MSU. However, they do have experience and size that will give Alcorn problems.

If Alcorn can score some points early, then look out. The Braves must come out playing to win and not playing to survive. USM will be a tough, but they aren't unbeatable for Alcorn.

Dude, this is the same Alcorn who couldn't even match up with AAMU last year and that got blown out by AlaState. This one will get ugly real fast. ...and lets not forget how over-rated Alcorn is. Johnny Thomas could have gone 9-2 if he played teams like Ed Waters and Wagner to pad his 7-4 records.

I chose USM to win this game. However, this game is the best chance that the SWAC has at beating an FBS program. I would sure like to see Southern play USM this year.....
 



I bet USM fans are scared to talk shít. They don't know what they're team is capable of after getting thrashed by msu.
This should be an interesting game. Go get'em Alcorn.
 
I'm pulling for the Braves but there's no way they will let them out of that part of Misissippi with a win. Those Refs will have extra flags in their pockets this weekend.

From I-20 southward, you have a few nervous people right about now.

This game could be interesting, at the same time it could get out of hand real quick if you don't watch it.

USM is going to pull out everything they have and more to win this game. They may go 1-11, but this one they got to win even if they have to have a few meetings with the refs before Saturday.

This is very true... A win is definitely possible for us, but having grown up around USM...I know how they operate behind closed doors. I just hope we can come in and deliver a game with minimal mistakes, while giving USM a run for their money. I know USM will play it's hardest to beat us, because they consider it embarrassing to lose to a HBCU.

It's all about the game plan. SWAC schools usually have speed, but get killed in the trenches. USM offensive line is not good and is young. Alcorn has enough talent up front to put some heat on a C+ QB that lacks a top WR. This is the SWAC best shot.

The game looks to be shaping up to be big once again… We set there record stadium attendance in 2009 at 36,232. A lot of hoopla surrounding this year, so it would be epic if we pulled off a win.
