If our 1 God was 3 persons then saying Father, Son and Holy Spirit would be ok.
.... some will ask,"Who was Jesus praying to and why was he always seeming to be talking as if him and his Father were seperate?"
When God came to earth, He was still in heaven also. God can act simutaneously in heaven and on earth. For that matter, he can be in as many locations as he wishis. He is the ALMIGHTY GOD. He can do that.
OK...Is God a spirit? Yes he is? Is he holy? Yes he is. Does that make him the HOLY SPIRIT? Yes it does...(John14:18 Jesus said,"I will not leave you confortless: I will come to you.") The Holy Spirit came to the deciples on Pentecost. This must mean that they all are the same person...The name is Jesus.
God calls himself all powerful and almighty many times throughout the bible.(Genesis17:1 and 35:11)
Now read Romans13:1
1Tim6:15
Rev19:6
Titus1:2
Hebrews6:18
God is eternal
Deuteronomy33:27
Isaiah9:6 and 44:6
1 Timothy1:17
Only God is perfect.
Only God could die for us.
...because it was the earthly man who died.
Who is the 4th man in the fire?
God being born is the reason for the phrase"Son of GOd."
If I was able to give birth to myself and still be myself at the same time then who is my father? I would be my own father and it would have been my choice to send my self. Sounds confusing?
All we have to do is believe every word that comes out of his mouth with the best understanding possible.
The heathen king Nebuchadnezzar said,"lo, I see four men loose...and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God"
However, in the original language(aramaic) there is no definite article before Son; that is, there is no (the) before the word Son in this verse. The NIV and TAB reads this phrase as"a son of the gods." The king was using heathen terminology and had no knowledge of the future arrival of the only begotten Son of God so it would have been impossible for hime to have made that statement. This is one of the few misstranslations of the King James version of the Bible. Most likely the king saw an angel, for he described this manifestation as an angel(Daniel3:28). It appears that the phrase"sons of God" can refer to angelic beings(Job38:7). At the most, what Nebuchadnezzar saw could only be a temporary theophany of God.
No one comes to the father But through [Jesus].
This is more than adequate to prove that Jesus is Jehovah.

let me see here...
the son forsook his deity for a season while the father maintained his deity (as did the holy ghost i am sure)...
so it is sort of like dad was holding down the heavenly fort while the son put his godliness on the shelf....
ahmmm....
well, if i didn't know better...
i'd swear that that was...
um...
what is the word i am looking for here?
hmmmm...
could it be....
maybe it is....
i'm going to say it is....
uh....
POLYtheism???
WOW - what a concept!
They had many books of history - including the Torah - which chronicled polytheistic cultures. Judeo-Christian ethic only has one God - the Lord our God is one. The Greeks and Romans knew that. In fact it was one of the means for identifying and persecuting Christians.Originally posted by hassan
Do the ancient Romans and Greeks know that they weren't the only ones worshipping more than one deity?

IF GOD IS ALL POWERFUL,
CAN HE DIE AND STILL BE ALIVE AT THE SAME TIME? IS GOD'S POWER LIMITED TO OUR UNDERSTANDING OR IS OUR UNDERSTANDING LIMITED TO GOD'S POWER? .

AND FINIALLY, DO WE WALK BY FAITH OR BY SIGHT?....THINK ABOUT ALL OF THESE QUESTIONS VERY CAREFULLY WHEN WE ASK WHY OR HOW. JUST KNOW THAT GOD CANNOT LIE. EVEN IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND...GOD CAN NOT LIE. Would God create laws and then break the laws he created?
HE IS ONLY 1 PERSON? THAT HAS 3 POSSITIONS FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT. THE NAME IS JESUS.
I understand your zeal, but be very careful with the poetic license.

SO I REPEAT.....GO BACK AND RE-READ EVERYTHING I WROTE. TAKE YOUR TIME AND YOUR BIBLE AND YOUR UNDERSTANDING.
WHEN YOU RECIEVE THE HOLY SPIRIT, YOU WILL UNDERSTAND THE MYSTERIES OF GOD LIKE ALL SPIRIT FILL PEOPLE DO. UNTIL THEN, YOU WILL CONTINUE TO TRY TO USE HUMAN WISDOM TO UNDERSTAND GOD AND IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN..THAT IS WHY THE QUESTION IS ASKED IN THE BIBLE, WHO UNDERSTANDETH A MAN BETTER THAN HIS SPIRIT, AND WHO UNDERSTANDS GOD MORE THAN HIS OWN SPIRIT? ANYONE WIHT OUT THE SPIRIT CAN'T UNDERSTAND SPIRITUAL THINGS BECAUSE HE DOESN'T HAVE THE SPIRIT OF DECERNMENT(or know the difference between the truth and a lie) FOR IT IS FOOLISHNESS TO HIM.

I have to disagree with your statement:
?Jesus never put His godliness on the shelf. His life was the literal display of godliness.?
Take a few moments and read Philippians 2:6-8.
This is the Kenosis of Christ: Jesus emptied himself of divinity to become human and live among mankind. Based on this scripture Christ, had to ?put his divinity? on a shelf in order to live among men. There are other scriptures to support the idea of Christ ?setting aside? his divinity to dwell among men.
God, can not look at sin because of his holliness. That's why Jesus said in Mark 15:34
"E-lo-o, E-lo-i, lamasabachthani
MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?
so what you're saying is that ?God has limits?God can not look at sin because of his holliness.
hassan said:so what you're saying is that ?God has limits?
Gee, i was always taught to believe that God is all-powerful
dacontinent said:God has limits in that He chooses to limit Himself.
Truth often does. Deal with it.hassan said:... but that sounds blasphemous
hassan said:*and i'm still waiting for the answer to the question ?Which is the One of the Ten Commandments that teaches that there is only ONE God?
dacontinent said:Truth often does. Deal with it.
hassan said:well, that was an intelligent response
*i'll just take that to mean you really don't know what you're talking about
Dwayne said:The first commandment says that you should have no other God before me, it did not say before us, but before me. If you read all of the commandments you would see that God speaks in the singular form because he is a singular person[*God is not a 'person']. Every single commandments implies that he is only God, God declares that he is only one God throughout the bible, and the people declare throughout the bible that there is only one God.
The whole bible teaches the onenes of God, not a God the Father, God the Son and God the HolySpirit. It Teaches of 1 God who is Father in creation, Son in redemption, and Holy Spirit in power. Like the bible says, These 3 are 1. In other words, these 3 titles all apply to the same person. JESUS.
