Help me out…what’s the JSU standard? Cant be be a top FCS program when there are no top FCS programs on the schedule… im sure there was room for someone other than Hampton, Tuskegee, and in conference Grambling …… I give credit for USM…. But where are the N. Dakota States like Tennessee State and even Valley scheduled?

Even if I told you the JSU standard, you obviously wouldn’t understand it. Which is fine lol. You can rant all you want about our schedule and who is/aint on it. Our standard still doesn’t change. Why isn’t NDSU on your schedule? Who we play doesn’t determine our worth as it does the rest of you. Like I said, agree to disagree 😂

We are a top FCS program because we are. Credit for USM? Because they white? Valley plays NDState because they got paid to go. NDState wanted to play us but they wouldnt come to Jackson first and we were not taking that chance. I'm actually shocked they are going to Nashville. Also, why go way over there? You know how much that costs? On top of that, when you average 30K, you are not at anyone's mercy, which is why we will play USM but you wont see an Arkansas or Ohio State or Auburn on our schedule. I don't think we are going to Hampton for a return game. I will find out tho. So again, when you average 30K, you can control your own destiny. We are not paying NW State or Samford because we will only agree to play them in Jackson. It would not make financial sense to go to them. Getting paid to go to USM with the possibility of a win is worth it. We are only playing FBS teams that we have a chance to beat. Now TxState beat our ahh BUT at the time we scheduled them, they sucked. When you average 30K, you can pick and choose what you do. And we only do what is in the best financial interest of JSU, such as pulling out of the SHC.

Grambling is a conference game this year. We opted not to do 12 games, so we only have 3 OOC games.

These are the same people who are 1.5 hours from TNState and it took TNState being down bad financially to even consider playing them.

This statement makes no sense. PV beat 2 FCS PWIs (I guess that's the standard for yall) but couldnt even win the WEST over a sorry ahh Southern team. Make it make sense.

That was my problem with Maynor. He started off winning out of Conference games FCS and then he just dropped off Maynor is actually a decent coach but I think he got comfortable.

Maynor was never good. Even with Glass, he never beat Alcorn, Grambling, or Southern. He won that asterisk championship in the Spring and that is all he did. He got lucky vs JSU in 2018 and 2019. He was average at best, which is why he got fired from Hampton. Another example of a person being a good D2 coach but stepping up to the big boys is a different story.

He knows the JSU standard. He saw us fire a coach that went 9-3, 7-4, 7-4 and 7-4 and followed that up by firing a coach after two SCG appearances. Our standard is championships. Now hiring DumbBell and Mudbone wasnt smart but hey.... at least we back on track!

Makes plenty sense. Coach said “We’re not here to be an elite SWAC school,” he said. “We’re here to be a premier, elite FCS program.”

That means winning in the SWAC and winning Out of Conference matchups against other FCS teams.

Not sure how you discount what the coach says he want's his program to be, But ok.

BUT I will say, he is at PV now. He aint about to win nothing but the WEST. That's his ceiling. The strength of the conference is in the EAST, for now.

Mehhhhhh year one for us. We want to see improvement, discipline, consistency, 4 quarters of competitive activity first and foremost.

Dude, we're just lil' ol' PVAMU sitting on a hill. New coach, new AD, new culture, new schemes, new turf, new concessions, new parking lot, new new new student-athletes. We don't have that grandiose legacy and tradition like JState w/ 30K+ fans following us to away and home games. We barely have 17 fans as it stands today lol. How should we be thinking?

He didnt take over a losing program and make them great… it was already there for him. IMO He didnt do nothing that any head coach in the conference couldn’t have done.

Most of us Texans aren't familiar with Valdosta OR Jacksonville as a name so understanding what you're telling them is somewhat of a brick wall until they do that research.
Valdosta is like a Sun Valley conference school that plays D2 sports, ya'll. They aren't now and almost never have been a small conference pushover school or juco-like inconsistent. They also have great resources, recruiting and a great campus life. I have a niece-in-law there and my wife's maternal family is from Statesboro and Savannah.

Valdosta is a lesson to swac schools on SCALE and program efficiency. Plug and play isnt accurate because what they do there is very deliberate to their numbers and effort. You don't NEED FBS $$$ to have a great program for your STUDENTS.

Dahill is right. Mr. Jackson, even though he is a TSU grad & former athletic Tiger will see a different world at PV. I'm positive he will rise to the occasion while I hope Dishman will lose the preacher cross around his neck and plant more than 32pts in PV's while holding them to zero.
