SWAC retro/pro combatlike uniforms?

Sure is...every damn team in the MEAC, SWAC, CIAA, and SIAC are rocking identical uniform sets with minor differences. We talk about it all the time on the MEAC board...especially when we saw three MEAC schools bust out brand new uniforms that all look exactly the same with different color schemes. And then you see all these HBCU teams with multiple uniform sets that don't even match. How are we supposed to brand that sh*t....and whether you guys want to admit it or not, kids nowadays wanna look clean on the field, so yeah, uniforms are kind of a big deal.

Also, some schools need to go back to more traditional looks...this holds especially true for FAMU, as I loved the uniforms we wore from the 70's up until the late 90's...very classic and clean.

Besides, how much money do our schools make from the Russell contracts? I also noticed that Tennessee State said eff it and got out of the Russell deal and signed on with Addidas.

+1 i agree.

That is who we should have signed with first to begin with. Who in the hell wears Russell anymore? Even highschools are wearing Addidas and Nikes uniforms. Hell, we could have signed with Under Armour, cause their uniforms are pretty dope compared to Russell's.

Under Armour uniforms are supa nice.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!! a big joke. Alot of High Schools are sponsor by nike now.

As someone who has been business that deals with uniform manufacturers, Nike is just a name and a logo. Yes these schools use Nkie, but most aren't "sponsored" by Nike. They pay a grip for that name brand, and get their basic product that is made in a factory that also makes other companies products.

All of this goes back to ,more pressing fundamental and financial administrative issues BASICALLY ours schools have no sense of looking ahead FOR DEALS to help improve their programs (Im speaking athletically of course)...

i dont think thats the case. They prolly pay but i am sure they get a ton of benefits

Bruh I have umpired baseball games with Little League Teams who have better uniforms than SWAC Teams..:smh:.

I can believe it. back in 2000-2005, JSU uniforms were terrible. The all white helmets and etc. I will leave this issue alone.

bruh the blue uniforms the football team had in 2008 were BADD....Like I said Russell sucks....point blank all their unis suck...

Yeah some of ya'll are getting the point. We need to do WHATEVER we can to market our programs and conference BETTER. Whether it's getting better uniform deals, tv contracts, or etc. we need to start bargaining better and stop jumping at the first thing handed out. Believe it or not, some kids DO look at your uniforms as one of the factors they consider in coming to your school. It should not be about what YOU like, but what's best for your program and what possible incoming athletes like, afterall they are they ones that have to wear them.

P.S. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing an all red alternate for Valley, with green details here and there.

Preach Bro......Schools like Valley and Southern should have a million alternate unis...I wish JSU would add the red accent back to our unis...Schools use uniform to gain more exposure to their program what are we doing? I"ll wait

You on point bro. Me personally, if i was a football player coming out of HS. i wouls sign with oregon just because of the uniforms.

if you knew how much these Nike Uniforms cost it would end the entire discussion. My high schools basketball boosters had to raise money for uniforms last year. The kids wanted Team Jordan uniforms. We looked into the price... Ill just say they were EXPENSIVE.. we got the job done though and got 2 sets of Team Jordan uniforms. Every school you see wearing Nike and Team Jordan uniforms are NOT sponsored by Nike.... most are not. Unless they have a top 25 player in the US or a national power high basketball program (ie Oak Hill, St Patrick, Christ the King, etc) they aint "sponsored" by Nike.

Staying on subject we are talking about COLLEGE, Colleges are contacting Nike and deals are made...The SWAC has a Nike Shoe Deal but the uniforms are made by Russell and I believe they just signed on an extension...So why is it that we can get the shoes and not the full uniform...School negotiate contracts all the time...Tennessee State has an Addidas deal...In 2003 Dumb Bell got the football team Reebok deal. Not to mention back in the 90 Grambling had Nike deal..

So It cant be that hard it just takes effort that it seems are schools are not willing to put forth just saying...If schools like New Mexico, Liberty University, Portland UNiversity have full Nike deals...
Hell Montana Grizzles had pro combat style unis this season...Universities are putting in the work...
