Haiti did have quite a part to play with his downfall.

It's quite interesting that this rivalry can't be re-instituted if it was so important to both schools.
Seems like it would be a win-win situation for both schools.
Then again, it could be an overrated rivalry some are blowing way out of proportion.

When you let conference commissioners dictate your in conference schedule. This is what happens. First the MEAC screwed them over and voided our 4 year deal and then our 9 game mandate came about and kept us with only two dates to work with. This rivarly is more intense than the BC or playing JSU. But the only folks who have experienced it are the older alums to the middle aged alums. The infrequency of playing each other definitely hurt the intensity of the rivaly with the newer generation.
 



Yep Famu vs SU was more heated than SU vs JSU. That’s the excuses both presidents used when it got cancelled. Those idiots didn’t know, its great to have a heated rival in HBCU land.

You all can say what you want but I blame the alums.....

Even now, if there any push from the alums to get the game back?

The same can be said about Howard vs Morehouse. When they were home-home it was a great rivalry. Then the MEAC made Howard stop going to Morehouse. The rivalry died a sudden death!

TP, we had signed a contract in the early 2000s to resume the series. Then we also added the MEAC/ SWAC Challenge in 2006 which did not count against the 4 year deal. So at least 5 games were supposed to take place. The MEAC added WSSU to the conference and messed up the schedule and we couldn't keep the contract going. I think the first year of it. SC State accommodated FAMU with moving a game with them. Then the next season FAMU was forced to make room for WSSU. Only to see WSSU leave the MEAC and head back down to the CIAA. LOL.

Then when Stump was coach, FAMU had kicked out Tenn State out of that ATL Classic for a couple of years and SU went. So this has nothing to do with Billy Joe. His ass been gone. Pete been gone. SU and FAMU alums want the game. But you have to have an AD and Presidents that push the agenda and let both Commish's know that you will help us do this correctly when doing the in conference scheduling. SU and FAMU got enough power in their respective conferences to be able to get help with conference scheduling to play a rival game. Even Tn State has it set to play JSU every year in September without any issue from their conference.

What SU and FAMU will have to do is probably give up one of the early MONEY FBS games and just play Labor Day weekend to kick the season off. But knowing the SWAC and MEAC, they would have one of the schools obligated to the Challenge.

No rebuttal needed from anyone because your statement is absolutely correct, as Jag 89 has already so eloquently pointed out! But do know this, while the French and British seemed to always be at war, and while the emperor really did need the money for survival, having been kicked out of Haiti rendered null and void the need to keep the Louisiana territory, thereby making it easier to sell to the young American nation. What if the emperor had succeeded in his colonization of Haitian slaves in the Americas? Although he had fought costly wars in Europe and consequently needed the money, would he still have sold to the Americans for the 15 mil? Who knows?

Didn't seem intense in ATL, i went to the game in ATL with my dad between SU and FAMU in 2011. Probably was in the past but since yall haven't played in a while it has lost it's luster.

The intensity is at each other's campus. Not a neutral site. Bragg is a hostile environment.

Big stadiums take out the intensity. Even Jerry's world has taken out the intensity of some of their rival games because it is too big. The media harps on it all the time.

It is a rival. I can't explain it if you have no experience to it. Even the BC suffers when one team aint doing good and it's sterile. In 2011 neither team was good at all and now you playing in the Ga Dome after so many years and the new school folks have no clue to how intense this game is. Let SU and FAMU play at Mumford or Bragg. I am telling you it is nasty. I don't know why yall dispute us who actually were part of that run between SU and FAMU. We already admitted the new alums have no damn clue to how it should be. But I promise you if it was even in Mobile, it would be better for the fan base. Not playing for awhile will do it to any rivaly. OU vs Nebraska used to be a great rivalry. But it changed when they stopped playing each other in the Big 12 then Nebraska left for the Big Ten. Killed that rivalry. But it is one the greatest in college football history.

Hell the SU vs JSU game lost intensity in the SUperdome those 3 years it was there. Didn't have the same electric atmosphere it did in Mumford or Memorial and we play every year. LOL.

So heated that FAMU tossed them out of that Classic for the attendance not being the same. Bottom line is the NEW SCHOOL aint as interested in these games like the old days. So even that ATL Classic was like we got to do something to change it up. In the 90s everybody who played in the Ga dome had a crowd. Fans were different. In the 80s it was the same way. Our fans are all suspect these days. They don't pack these rivalry games and not as intense as they should be. So now you got to play these games home and home to get it back to where it used to be. Tenn State vs FAMU was a must see. Even the JSU vs Tenn State game aint as intense as it used to be. Compare 90s Memphis to 2017 Memphis with that game. Even before they went to play each other in Memphis. JSU vs Tenn State HOME and HOME was very intense in the early 80s. Way more than it is now.

Its hard to judge the SHC because JSU not really ever winning the SHC plays apart in the lack in intensity. Thats just like if GSU were to beat SU almost every year the same would go for the BC. But if jsu could put a product on the field the SHC wud be much more intense. The fans are still there but just nothing to see. We definently have one of the best fan base in FCS. Jsu averaged 13,576 at 3-8 whereas SU averaged 14,315 at 7-4....

That last paragraph is not accurate. We had a coaching issue with james b*ll and that's what helped to doom the attendance. Come on JR. LOL!!

There you go again trying to prove your point by subtly trying to diminish the JSU/Tenn. State game. This game has nothing to do with what's going on between FAMU and southern.

This has nothing to do with Bell. Hughes was the coach in 2000 and 2002. When we went to New Orleans. Bell was one year in 04. The game did not have the same crowd feeling it does home and home. So stop faking the funk.
