State Playoffs - LA

Results:

5A
West Monroe vs. Acadiana

4A
Edna Karr vs. Franklinton

3A
Parkview Baptist vs. Patterson

2A
John Curtis vs. Evangel

1A
Ouachita Christian vs. White Castle

All but one of the semi-finals games were blowouts. Can't believe that WF let the game slip away.

Turnovers killed EF. Two fumbled kickoffs early in the game, one where he was clearly down after returning the ball to the JC 20. Also Young QB(Beckwith) tried to do to much( hard to do against a team like JC playing that way). They will be back next season in 3A where there is no JC . QB is only a sophmore.

There may not be a John Curtis or Evangel, but 3A will have Notre Dame of Crowley, Parkview, St.Charles Catholic, and Patterson.

They arent like JC. EF would have beaten those teams. EF matched up really well with Evangel. They wouldnt be able to pass on EF. 2007 Clinton had Evangel beat, had the ball @ the Evangel 2 with a 6 point lead under 2 minutes in the 4th and fumbled and this team had 4 times the athletes as that team. Last night it was athletes vs the system and the system won.

There's also Donaldsonville, ED White, St. James, Amite, Independence, Richwood, Rayville and Marksville

This is probably going to be the deepest 3A will ever be in football.

But also, pay attention to Districts 9-2A and 10-2A...their football teams will be in one district...which means South Plaquemines vs. Curtis in the regular season.

Poor McKinley's gonna get kilt in football in the 5A district they're moving into (Catholic-BR, Dutchtown, East Ascension, St. Amant, Woodlawn)...However, those Ascension schools got what they wanted: the fudge away from the River Parishes 5As (Hanhville, Destrehan and ESJ).

NOTE: Didn't I tell y'all EF would have to play virtually mistake free and execute against Curtis.

Parkview's defense is no joke. John Curtis was just that much better than EF. East Feliciana is a great team, but all great teams stumble against the Evangel and John Curtis road block. The only score for East Feliciana was that pick 6. John Curtis has the same if not more talent than EF, with better coaching and resources, and it showed.

Donaldsonville is 2a. You said the same thing vs Newman and Calvary also, you were bound to get it right.

Talent was no where close. EF by a wide margin. JC has a scout at every EF game since they beat Capital.

1. Donaldsonville and St.Charles Catholic are also moving up to class 3A, while Redemptorist and Northeast are moving down to 2A. Those 2 are going to be in a different district than EF.

2. What does that really say about EF if they were so much more talented to JC.

I knew SCC was moving up but not Donaldsonville. Like I said EF was outcoached(JC had scouts at every EF game since the capital game). Young QB (sophmore)also tried to win the game by himself. He always went for the HR instead of taking what they gave him.

While I don't think EF's whole team is more talented than JC I gotta give EF's QB props. He's just a Soph and if he stays healthy and gets even better he's gonna be a monster.

First off...I said Newman might have been a tougher out than they were. Traditionally Newman has been tough to beat, but not necessarily unstoppable. Calvary Baptist game, I thought with the weather Robinson would have a great game for EF. The split that formed Calvary Baptist away from Evangel took some talent away, but they're pretty much the same to me.

I said EF would have to play flawlessly against Curtis only. When St. James beat Curtis in district a couple of years ago....Curtis turned teh ball over four times. When they met in the Dome with the title on the line...Curtis smoked them. First off, you're not going to "out-athlete" Curtis. You have to execute to beat Curtis.

Remember that Capitol team that played Curtis in the Dome in the mid 90s (Overstreet was on that team). Curtis smoked them.

BTW: Donaldsonville's moving up to 3A. They will be in District 7-3A with Brusly, Port Allen, St. Charles Catholic, St. James and ED White...Now that's going to be a tough district right there.

Meanwhile, EF, WF, Parkview Baptist, Baker and Glen Oaks will form District 6-3A next year.

I posted teh LHSAA's districting plan link in an earlier post.

Also, JT Curtis has an unfair advantage doing the high school results show in New Orleans, IMO.

White Castle won the 1A title with my former high school track teammate and former SU DB Dio Bernard is the DC!!! Big ups to him!!!
