Thing is we don't have a balance in what is show about us. I can put up with c**nery, but give me something of substance. I can't stand Bow Wow, Soulja Boy, Flavor of Love and I Love New York because it makes my job as an educator HARDER because there is very little to counter the images they showcase about us.
When you have kids have a drag out, destroy the classroom and break noses fights over I love New York. You know we are in trouble.:shame:
The thing is if someone tried to make a decent show about a black family that isn't "buffonish". WE WON'T WATCH IT! Especially if it has an image that uneducated black folk think isn't real.
Why do so many of our shows always have single women raising children or single men raising girls yet white shows have single men raising boys. If a father is raising a son, it's a cable show (Cory in the House) or Star Trek: DS9
I can understand what Spike is saying, but if he is that upset-why doesn't he and others get together to get "better" shows on tv?
He needs to upset that a lot of our positive shows, artists and others are being ignored in favor of buffonism by our black media. Something isn't right that you wll rehash or did up outdate material just claim you are talking about other black folks that don't need sex tapes, dumb dances, abusing girlfriends or gun happy grandmother for attention.
YES RIGHT ON, BLACK BEAT & WORD UP MAGAZINE-I'm talking about you!
Was rewriting Omarion like ice cream 30 times REALLY that important?
