Spike Lee Rips Tyler Perry

Folks, let's all just do the coummunity a favor, join me and start writing/calling Hollywood. Let's stop talking about it, and be about it. Let the uppity, middle class folk get what they want. No TV shows for us.  Come on now, join in let's get this party started.

Exactly. Martin was a guilty pleasure for me. He stepinfetch'd, no doubt, but the boy was a straight fool! And when I saw that Cockroach from The Cosby Show was on it, I couldn't help but watch.

:lmao: I could watch Martin all day! And Comcast has put it on On Demand too, oh its over!

 @ 8 to 5

How are the charactors on House of Payne or Meet The Browns "Coons"?.....Other than an at average of sub-par acting, ion see how the word "c**n" came up...

~walks out~

You're right Smoke. Imma have to retract that "c**n" statement. And yeah, the acting is very sub-par and TP's sitcom and movies are poorly written and, IMO, I think that insults the intelligence of the viewer (myself). Just like Martin did. To me, Tyler Perry is to filmmaking what Soulja Boy is to hip hop.....That's why I used the word "c**nery", more or less.

But I'm quite sure his goal is to entertain his core audience rather than win an Academy Award and that's cool too.

 wow that's pretty harsh. Being that I like some of Soulja Boy's music :goodbad:, i can say that it doesn't provide a sound message for me, i just like it, it's my southern urban fix, can't help it. :emlaugh: In TP's defense, at least his purpose is to heal and sever relationships and or send a sound message. You really have people who care for lives that bad that if they got to act a fool to save souls or give someone hope they'll do it, they'll be dat, and thats what i've gotten from TP's character through his work. And many of the people probably would not have even gotten the message who really needed it if he came out like Spike Lee. Hell i'm sure its folks that needs Spike's messages but still aint heard it yet because he may seem unrelatable to them. but i'm still tickled at your comparison though. you been on a roll this week.

I didn't really mean to be harsh with it, tho. Cuz I like Soulja Boy, too (hence the phrase beside my avatar pic). But it is what it is. I really don't see a great deal of talent in either one. Creativity? Yes. Innovation? Yes. Business acumen? Yep. But not really talent.

Good point about Spike, though. Sometimes, being overly artistic can hurt you or cause folks to miss your point. I went to see "Do the Right Thing" when I was about 9 or 10, but didn't learn what it was really about until I watched it again a couple of years ago.
