Forcing Southern to pay the buyout fee had nothing to do with any need for a paltry $60k. From an economic standpoint, we could have schedule a D-II for a home game, paid them a guarantee (AND gotten a better opponent on the field) and made exponendially more money than the $60 k.
The point is, we signed a home and home and, in good faith, we went to Southern, first, paid the higher prices you charged for that game and - aside from your homecoming game - brought the largest crowd to visit Mumford that year. The game did nothing for us other than drag down our strength of schedule. We took the worst McNeese team in 30 years into Mumford, whipped you like you stole something, didn't even get to see the band perform because of the rain, and then had you reneg on the contract. Stuff like that's culmulative. You guys wussed out of the EARLIER discussions about a contract, signed one, announced it, then corrected yourselves and said that it wasn't signed, but wouldn't return the blank contract to us

What's up with that? Anyway, water under the bridge...
The buyout clause wasn't about financial need. We built a $10 million dollar fieldhouse and turfed the field in that same time frame, so your $60k "meant a lot to McNeese" rant is so you can try to salvage what little pride you've got left. You know if Southern wouldn't have paid the buyout, EVERYBODY would KNOW Southern punked out. As it is now, they only suspect that's so
The money wasn't about "need." It was about honor and doing things the right way. Which is PRECISELY why you don't understand the concept...
It's an honor thing. A Jaguar wouldn't understand...
