Should Stoudemire and Diaw be suspended?

The rule states that any player not checked into the game that leaves the bench or steps on to the court in the midst of a altercation shall be suspended. In light of what happened at the end of game four in the Suns vs. Spurs series should the two Suns players be suspended for violating the leagues rule keeping in mind the circumstances that were taking place at the time.

Get real man. Rules are rules. Amare and diaw will play their next game in San Antonio.

Rules are rules, but clearly Amare and Diaw didn't make the situation worse. That rule needs to be modified in my opinion. If every "rule" was enforced, then traveling would be called at least 20 times per game, especially on those break away dunks. Most of the times they take at least 3 steps.

What's rule for fallin all over the floor like you havin a seizure or something just cause someone bumped yo azz????

If anything Robert Horry needs to be suspended and then Amare was on his way to the scorer's table to check in the game. :smh: How you going to suspend him for that?

I call shenagans on anyone who says Amare was about to check into the game. He Left the bench to investigate the altercation and its against the rules. Craig Seiger should have been embarrased to say that schit on TV.

Having said that, Rules are rules and whether or not you made the situation worse has nothing to do with it. I say they are out.

If going to the scorers table means going into a crowd of players pushing, then so be it, but that wasn't the case. If he was checking in, why did his coaches have to push him away from the crowd IF they gave him permission to check in in the first place? Bottom line is, amare lost it, and he let his team down by leaving the bench. The no tolerance rule is there for a reason and shouldn't be modified just because of the teams playing or the players involved.
THEN there's diaw. Po phoenix.:smh: :smh:

I hope the Suns beat the Spurs azz.

It will not matter. As long as Nash plays the Suns have a chance to win anyway.

San Antonio has some changes they need to make next season. They need another young player that can score off the bench. I see some weakness in that team that I have not noticed before. I am not so sure they can beat a Detroit in the Finals now that I see them playing the Suns.

Dirty!

Horry will be suspended from the next game in Phoenix. He just cost the Spurs the series..........on the other hand, no he didnt cause they were going to lose the series anyway.

No, I think they just grew lax and let that one slip away. The Spurs can win in phoenix easier than phoenix can win in San Antonio.
The Spurs play the type of ball the eastern conference teams play, so they won't be surprised at all if/when they play an eastern conference team in the finals.
On the other hand, the suns will be shocked and awed at the physical play. They'll resort to their whining to the officials and media, like they're doing now, but it won't matter.

The suns better hope stoudamire and/or diaw are not suspended.
The spurs can live without Horry for a game or two.

Actually BB, he may have won them the series IF stoudamire's suspended for leaving the bench.
In the old days, that hit on nash would've been a regular foul. The NBA is turning the league into a bunch of sissies and whiners with these weak flagrant foul calls.

The rule needs to be more specific... In some instances guys might be headed out there to be a peacemaker or check on a teammate (which is what they were doing this time). I understand fining them, but to suspend someone who didn't throw a punch or escalate the situation is a bit much.

I'm pulling for the Suns (that's been established on this thread and others) but even if the situation was reversed, I would say that a suspension would be too much and would hurt the "integrity" of the series.

Maybe Smush Parker should have started a fight to see if he could have gotten some players to leave the bench for Phoenix... but even that wouldn't have helped them win. Afterall, they still got that one-sided triangle offense.

Fine Diaw, check into whether or not Stoudamire was really going to check in, and then appropriately fine him if he's in the wrong, but suspensions in a playoff series for reacting to someone taking a cheap shot at your star player is too much. Big Shot Bob needs to sit out a game for that though.

COSIGN

I personally don't think the foul was that hard on Nash. He did alot of acting in that game. In fact, for those who watched the Cleveland-New Jersey game, Mikki Moore's foul on Cleveland's player was alot worse that Horry's foul, because Cleveland's player was in the air.

How bout you get cross-checked like that first and then come back and tell us if it was hard?

So much for objectivity. A non-suspension of stoudemire would hurt the integrity of the rules.
If stoudamire gets special treatment, what about the other players who were suspended under similar circumstances? Now they'll have a beef with the league and grounds for potential lawsuits.

The league doesn't need to switch gears in midstream. If after the season, they want to go back and tweak the rules, so be it, but NOT during the season. Wouldn't be fair to the other players who were suspended in the past and a double standard.

I am sorry (really I am not). If that was a hard, flagrant foul, then there are 20 of them a game. The difference was it was in the middle of the court, not in the lane, but more importantantly, was how Nash reacted. Horry did not throw an elbow, clothline him or nothing like that.

I have notice this for a while, sometimes it is not so much about how hard the foul is in many cases, it is how the player that got fouled reacts. If that player just takes the foul like a soilder, the refs say nothing, but if they act like the got killed and wanna fight, then it is flagrant foul time. I bet any amount of money, if the same thing happened to someone else, and instead of falling all backward like they just got shot with a magnum, they would have kept going and when the ref blew the whistle, just acted normal, there would not have been a flagrent foul called.

BUt Nash put on the act, but he fooled his teamates more than the other team this time, and now his #1 boy might be sitting out.

With 1 minute left in the game, Nash is crazy if he though Horry was gonna let him dribble around him a start a fast break that easy.
