The most revered baseball program in black college athletics will open the 2006 campaign 02/10/06. On deck and first victim is S. Arkansas. Your defending Black College and SWAC Champions are lead by the Dean of all SWAC baseball coaches Roger Cador who has been given the charge once again to continue the legacy that is Southern University baseball.

looking forward to a time when we can stop talking about them in the contest of being the best in hbcu baseball. I'm ready to see them get to omaha. the foundation is in place to really make a big jump.

We always have to hitting,and defense . It comes down to pitching.

Dude, did you play baseball? No hbcu in th COUNTRY has enough pitching depth to make a run at Omaha. That's the deciding factor. PERIOD. :slap:

In 2003, SU had the team to win the CWS, if they had more pitchers. The lineup from top to bottom was deadly, and featured 2 all-americans. SU lead the nation in hitting and I think 15 or so players were drafted off that team.
 
look at Valley.....they basically has turned their baseball program into a PWC and they are still getting average pitching....but location may play a part

for an HBCU to make the run pitching wise with brothas, they would have to round up the best black pitching coming out of high school and hope for the best. And that's hard because a lot of good, black pitchers want to play at a high level.

to tell you truth. SU has had teams who could have made a run. This year I will love to see them make it out the 1st round, and move on.

I'll be glad when:
1) we, all hbcu's upgrade their baseball facilities.
2) make it to a a super regional
3) upgrade our schedules where we can receive an at large bid to the playoffs

SAU usually has a good team. Some D2 schools have good baseball programs - like Delta St. and Houston Baptist.

Hope they don't bust us in d mouf either!!!:splat:
