That 180k that they were reporting is actually the salary of Latrell Scott who left Virginia State and accepted the Norfolk State job today. I wish Bama State luck with this hire...

I know one thing.........No way in hell would I nix the SCG for a Legacy Bowl. The SCG is a great game in a world class venue. If anything the MEAC need to get them a championship game and then the winners meet in 2 or 3 weeks in a Bowl game. If I had to choose between the two, I'd keep the SCG......

JR, our special teams was just BAD last year. I told you even before the JSU game that ya'll were gonna run back AT LEAST two on us. I don't feel so bad about it right now. OMJ had too many freshmen out there. He learned this ain't 1-A ball real quick and your starters have to do a LOT! ..and kicking it away from Quinn will help too. :lol:

Yep some of us wanted him (not me) but he was never going to get it. If we did a search after OMJ, he might have had a shot but NO ONE was gonna get that job over OMJ last year... nobody! But again, you all are NOT a threat to JSU so get whatever coach you want. You gonna end up looking just like you always do...

I would keep the SCG too. Well, unless the $$$ will be worth scrapping it but I doubt that. The MEAC can't have a championship game. They just don't have it like that.

:clap: I only speak the truth. I didn't want OMJ to be at JSU but I am not a decision maker. Those who wanted Comegy gone and Jackson in, got what they wanted. Im sure some of them are even helping to pay that salary. Jenkins is a good coach but I didn't trust him to coach at JSU. I don't like coaches who are looking for another job every year. We don't need that in Jackson. I would have preferred Tony Hughes over him. ..but i didn't want Tony either... :lol:
 



First off, congratulation to the Hornets from Bama State. One other thing....It is hard to win a conference championship and the SWAC is no different. Jenkins will not come in and run roughshod over this conference. A lot of people thought Melendez was going to and he is STILL looking for his first tourney championship. You can't talk your way to a conference title either otherwise jsu wouldn't be 1n18. To add insult to injury, currently this conference has been flooded with a great deal of young talent that is only going to mature........Here me now and believe me later ain't nobody in this conference laying down for a new addition.......

I agree that he is a good coach but I am sure you follow the MEAC pretty well. This is a different league. If he brings his DC with him, they will have a hard time stopping the pass. They didn't have to worry about that much in the MEAC. They pretty much had no good QBs in the MEAC last year. Hampton went to the air and they had no answer. Maybe they didn't have DBs either. But again, we shall see. I have no DOUBT that he will get a SWAC title tho.. but it won't be 3-4 in a row like he was doing in MEAC-land.

..and when the Legacy Bowl becomes a reality, we will see how much better the MEAC is.
