Recruit a 4 or 5 star player

There is no argument that you can present that's going to make a 5 star kid choose Southern over the SEC. Only possible chance you have is if the kid's parents attended there and even then it's a stretch. Mainly because you can't argue against cost of attendance, playing in front of 90k+ and the chance to win a national championship...while being on national tv every week. Even G5 FBS schools cant pull it off except for maybe 1 out of 1000 every now and then. The culture really isn't enough.
This what white folks say, but you can easily break this down, as a recruiter for a HBCU, you playing in front of 90k of white folks majority who hates you, not just you but your child hood cousins, friends, uncles, etc these folks couldn't care less about you or them
By you coming to our school you can play in front of 20k-25k at the most and if it's Southern that attendance can go up. Ppl from other schools will attend the games just to see you and these are ppl that look like you. Seeing you play they can tell their son or nephew that they can play at Southern and still get shine. Just imagine a Levi or a Leonard Fornette playing at SU, you don't think the ganes won't draw ppl? What is you sayin, now imagine more 4 or 5 star recruits going to other schools, you don't think ppl will come, now this will create reasoning for students to come to the games. Also more fans mean more revenue means addition to the stadiums, then we can reach 99k ppl at these games..

The only reason why the ship is a big thing is because of media, but once these players start coming to these HBCUs that championship won't mean nothing, the swac ship will be more meaningful

*Recruit hears a knock at the door*

*door opens*

"Hi son, Im John Stallworth."
"Im Robert Mathis"
"And Im Coach Spady. And we want to talk about how you can change the face of college football, help your people, and go make it farther in the pros than you would at Alabama or Auburn."

Good pitch!!

How are the top FCS schools -- the schools that are consistently at the top of the top 25 poll -- making it work with 2 and 3 star players? As someone who is concerned with the FCS, SWAC schools should be going after those players.

I like this one as well (imagine a 4-5 star seeing JS or RM at their front door, on video call, video message, etc. I could see Michael Strahan doing this for TxSU.

I've said before that it's gonna happen within the next few years simply because these racist wypeepo can't help themselves (see Mizzou) and that turned people off on top of all the other stuff going on in this country. All it will take is one 4-5 star that is "woke" to sign with us and others will follow

One of the solutions that most of us tend to overlook?

Scholarship distribution inequity.

Im actually about to make a separate thread on this.

I think the only way a 4 or 5 comes to a HBCU is he has some direct ties to the school and he is allowed to play a position that the large PW schools don't need him.
Example a high school QB who is being recruited to play RB.

I believe the glass is half-full, unk. I believe that there has to be a special type kid w/ great understanding who could be pulled in the HBCU direction vs the p5/g5 folks. That kid has to have GREAT understanding and intelligence unselfishly w/ humility coupled w/ wisdom and a connection to the past though. ::read::

There's about a 1 in 10,000 chance of that happening on a regular basis. It's just not logical for a kid that wants to compete on the highest level.

The thing is, nobody cares about whether the folks in the stands are black or white... they're at the game to play and they want to play on the biggest stage. Also, there are plenty of black folks at those games. None of the other things you say even factor into an athlete's head. And also, you will never reach 99K regularly at games. You won't even average 50k at home games. The only way you pull that off is if you're a state flagship. And your last point, clearly you've lost your mind.

Yea, now pair that with...

Hi son, i'm Nick Saban/Urban Meier
We have a program that plays in front of 100k every week
We'll fund you $3,500 every year to cover attendance fees that your scholarship doesn't
We've won 3 national championships in the past 7 years
You'll regularly get to play against LSU, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, USC and Texas

Good luck with beating that just by having Robert Mathis go to the door. This argument would be a lot more realistic if we were talking about 2 or 3 stars....beyond that it's just kinda silly.

We are. :) That's our intent first and foremost but it doesn't make sense not to make a play for those 4*/5* talented youth as well.

Coach Banks needs to do everything possible (and legal) to convince Javonte Smart to come to SU.

1. Ppl care when you start to educate them. Ppl don't care because ppl don't break it down to the player/recruit in terms of how the setup is setup. None of it factor because recruiters are too scared to dive into the race talk and really break the shit down. That's why it doesn't matter.

2. So you're telling me, that there is close to 10k-20k black ppl out of that 90k in the stands at ALL of your UT, Bama, OU, Texas Tech, Baylor, etc football game? Dude stop, I went to UGA last year and SU had more black ppl there, than the black ppl that were at the game cheering for UGA, and we brought about 5k, I may be wrong with that number, but out of that big ass stadium, Maybe 2k-4k had black folks in the stands repping UGA and I'm being generous. What is you saying dude?

3. Why would not you reach 99k? and tell me this who reaches 99k outside of the 11 schools folks wanna see, maybe Michigan and Tenn,? Do you think Texas Tech reaches 99k if they are not playing UT or some ranked team? Let me ask you this, if the 4 or 5 black recruit stop going to these racist ass schools, would they continue to reach 99k and get TV deals/networks?

4. Once the black players leave and start enrolling into these HBCU and start to build up their program, Do you really think black folks will give a shit about the Rose Bowl or any of that other shit??

Man you are looking/speaking in a "oh fuk it, it can't be done" matter, same as how these coaches and recruiters are thinkin The only way this can be pulled off, is these recruiters have to break everything down...when I say break it down..I'm talking about all the way down to the point to where, if you're talking about a feet on a body and it's function..you have to talk about the toe nail on that toe, you have to give at least 20-30 minutes on why the toe nail is there and why it's function ..you can't just say "oh the feet are use for walking" and then move on..no you have to show these kids what the toe'nail is used for..like why is it 90k ppl at these games and who and what that 90k really think of you...vs what a 25k-40k would think of you..your own kind..you have to really go break stuff down at the beginning of this process, and then once recruits start to enroll, then you can maybe just talk about the feet and what all it does for the body.

This process/recruiting has to be treated like a doctor performing on a heart, he/she looks at every vain/muscle and examines it to the fullest before working on the heart, even in the muscle/vein isn't associated with the heart. It plays a part in a heatlthy heart..

Recruiting a black 4 or 5 player, every subject matter has to be on point.

You're right. There is that 1 in 10K chance of that occurring. I like our odds though unk. No smack. Seriously. I like our odds. The highest level could LITERALLY return to HBCUs in a blink of an eye. The same way those other folks saw a gold mine in using our youth is the same way we will get them to return and not use them, but help them matriculate about this country called "america" as a positively contributing citizen of the usofa. There's more to life than "running a gott damned ball on a green field."

Highest level of what?

If you not going to those 11 schools, that everybody wants to watch, what highest level is there?

Do you think Texas Tech vs UVA game with one team being 3-3 and the other team 4-3 is the highest level?

Do you think Boston College vs Maryland the highest level?

Do what is the highest level?

Gameday showing up to that campus and plugging that game is the highest level?
If Miami vs FSU were both 0-8 entering that game, would you consider that a high level

I'm just trying to understand your logic because you sound like you're reading/typing off a sound/card
You're coming off as being programmed.

What do you mean when you say highest level?

Unk is presenting what those kids' mindset is, BH. And that's EXACTLY how they think - p5/g5, regardless of ranking and previous/prior records as "the highest level." They are the ones who are programmed. Somehow, we've got to inject the virus of Right-v1.0 into them to cure them of their negative programming that occurs from day one. It's that same programming that has them wearing notre dame, florida state gear as youth and none of them can tell you for sure where those universities are located. smgdh Just 2 nights ago, I asked a kid who had on maroon txa&m junk did he know where that school was located and he smiled and said "naw, i'm jus' wearin' it..." I wasn't shocked because THIS is a part of the programming they receive that goes unchecked by whatever lack of guardianship they are receiving.

Look up where the "fighting tigers" come from. Man I was so disappointed in Lindsey letting his son get to LSU smh.

Man that's what I'm talking about, Lol bruh it just amazes me with all that's going on in this world with these ppl, and we still continue to try and align ourselves with these ppl thinking they will be our friend Lol..like dude.

LSU got 4 or 5 QBs already and you still going there..and SU is right up the rode? Man come on...I can go in, but I'ma chill...he/they have that right...they have that right Bighead, just relax and keep living and watch how it plays out...

Pretty sure that's illegal (former players making visits).

It is. Recruiters have to be paid staffers representing their entity. That's why I'm kinda' funny about hearing some who are not compensated, like us alums, approaching a young man/woman a certain way. We can discuss our schools, true enough but we shouldn't be aggressively pursuing a young man/woman in a recruiting type fashion, unless requested to help out, I believe. Otherwise, "mazza" (ncaa) will have their crony whistleblowers harking on them to do something because the "recruiting field isn't level/right/violations occurred w/ those people." They would have/had NO problems snitching on us to "mazza," I'm sure.

Same thing when I see black folks wearing LSU gear, I wish I would be caught in some LSU gear walking around town..or any of these racist ass colleges..you got folks wearing the stuff and they haven't even stepped on their campus. Lol..man look

I blame these coaches/recruiters of ours for not even going after these cats..Man just go, even if you don't think you will get them..plant the seed or something shit..this is sad and right now is the right time to try and steer the kids into another direction.

Texas AM (college station) where they use to hang black folks for walking through town, where they use to deny serving gas to black folk who were just trying through and I"m not talking about the times in the 40s and 50s, I"m talkin the 80s and early 90s..bruh..

Man look..

Odums, need to be knocking on these kids doors, I don't think our coaches/recruiters wanna get down and dirty, they are so dayum passive I bet..smh..
Stuff is disgusting...Man let these kids know the truth..

You got kids going to Texas A&M, how? I remember when they wouldn't even let black folks play on the team..lol..They converted a WR and made him into a QB over a black kid..

Man look

So we're gonna keep beating this dead horse for the 3,000th time?

Dayum, you just give up huh..

You don't even try and succeed..

I think what it is, alot of us don't know our history and don't understand what black folks been through.

A lot of us think it's all just football but don't see life after football/basketball of what these kids go through.

Man I've seen former players that were stars leaving HS, that went to these racist ass schools and now they are back home..wit my ass, talking about man the white man aint this and that..I'm like negro you went and played for this same white man and he didn't take care of you, you didn't network yourself to get a 6 figure paying job?
You down here selling tires now? man come on but since you doing that, let me get 4 use ones for 100..Lol Stuff be sad dena a bih..like really my dude...

Man look
