Ummmm I only gave one example. There have been plenty of other things that the MA won't write about. I have no problem with them reporting stories but if they going to post stories post the good ones as well.

I can sit on here and complain about how Grambling got little to no coverage for having a weeklong robotic cypersecurity workshop for high school students, because our nursing school closing temporary was the bigger story! Breaking NCAA rules is a bigger story than your women doing great in the NCAA championship, and y'all hired a coach with a history of breaking the rules makes it a much bigger story

HBCUs, in this case Alabama State, have not learned yet that hiding mess just leads to a Bigger Mess. You can call on your Frat Brother, Sorority Sister, roommate buddy from the back in day, etc. If a mess is there, CLEAN IT UP and DO NOT LET IT STINK!!!!
The Buddy System has failed HBCUs miserably. Josh Moon is doing his job. We need more like him.

SU is near the end of, to me, the most embarrassing 2 years of NCAA drama with the "UNUSABLE APR DATA" Gate saga.
That was SU 's problem, and not all HBCU's problem. JSU, TSU, GRAMBLING, MORGAN ST, NORFOLK ST, MILES COLLEGE, PRARIE VIEW, ALCORN, MVSU, AL St, ALA A&M, UAPB, and all other HBCU's in the United States of America continued to carry the HBCU banner in that respect. They all kept good records and their data was usable, whether or not each sport had a passing score.
GSU had an internal (football boycott) issue that became a public nightmare, but they have recovered from it.
HBCU's have the same problems that predominately white universities have (FCS, FBS, NCAA Div 2, NAIA Div 1...etc.)
Every time they do something wrong I don't see their "progress going forward" questioned.

First of all, and I assume you know it, Josh Moon is what we call an "Investigative sports reporter".
He isn't unique to the journalistic world. Texas Southern & Prairie View are covered by the Houston Chronicle and if something negative pops up you can bet they will assign someone to sniff it out even if they neglect the normal day to day coverage.
Southern has the Baton Rouge Advocate, who won't hesitate to put out negative coverage if they have the info. They still have the video of the SU/TSU women's basketball fight on the main sports online page.
JSU, Alcorn St. & MVSU all covered to some degree by the Clarion-Ledger. I know Alcorn and MVSU have local newspapers in their area as well.
AL A&M, the Huntsville Times and AL St has the Montgomery Advertiser. UAPB has the Pine Bluff Commercial. GSU has the Monroe Newsstar. Everyone of these schools are under intense scrutiny daily.

IN CONCLUSION
Unlike Braveheart 123, I'm not going to give Josh Moon no credit.
I'm going to give credit (GOOD JOB) to all the HBCU's that despite being under extra scrutiny from media, they have been able to run relatively clean,drama free programs with little resources to fight for their rights.
Once again GOOD LUCK ALABAMA STATE. I hope you make the right decisions in this situation.
An finally, I will not allow BRAVEHEART123 to paint the entire HBCU community as having INTEGRITY issues by saying we need more Josh Moon's. What we need is equal coverage period and not only when something negative happens.

But see that's problem. Josh Moon is only able to report what is being fed to him. If you feed him a Head Coach that has a LONG HISTORY of wrongdoing, what the hell do you think is going to happen. You thought Jenkins would exchange his horns for a halo?
You think this shit with terminated contracts, getting Presidents removed who are trying to do the right thing, etc. is not being talked about? As posters alluded earlier, it is Bama State's job to prove Josh Moon wrong. But if you keep proving Josh Moon CORRECT, Josh Moon is going to only do his job.
What you have failed to understand is the current environment of HBCU Administration. If someone like Dr. Silver walks in and points out an obvious wrong, the old Buddy System will try to undermine him and eventually terminate him.

I read every post by everyone including your other post on this thread and I've only responded to you twice, therefore, don't question how intelligent I think the other people's post happen to be. Don't try to bunch yourself with everyone else. If I only questioned your post then whose intelligence am I really questioning?
You must be questioning my intelligence if you don't think I can relate to Administrative positions/contract situations such as SU President/Chancellor position mergers,a popular BR Chancellor being removed, AD being reassigned, Bobby Jindall trying to take a University (SUNO) from the S.U. System and merge it with UNO, state funds being reduced yearly for the SU System. Therefore, I'm pretty sure S.U. isn't the only school having problems. But I bet you one thing, we don't need JOSH MOON to report on them. We are looking for some solutions.
Unlike you Braveheart123 I choose not to anoint JOSH MOON, as my HBCU savior.

I wish we would find people to lead our sports department that knew what they were doing. IF you look at former Spelman Pres, Dr. Cole or Xavier U. Pres.. just hear them speak,, why they were successful was because they hired people that knew what they were doing, ITS NOT A HARD.THING TO DO.. I haven't written a lot of investigative pieces in my career, but I have never seen a media outlet publish that it was suing an entity over a records request.
The only reason that would happen, in my mind, is that the paper had difficulty obtaining records or information from said entity in the past. By publishing that, it seems like the Montgomery Advertiser wants to put pressure on the school to release the records.

I just feel like we talk about this every year,, ITS crazy why cant we just get it right, we get mad because folks say bad things about our HBCU,,,,but my question is IF THIS WAS YOUR WORK PLACE, OR A BUSINESS,, WOULD WE BE SYMPATHETIC... Peace be with Alabama State University in their ongoing issues.
As I gather up my thoughts this Monday morning, I'd like to say that I woke up a new HBCU man.
As I slept last night, a vision of JOSH MOON awakened me.
I was hit with the MOON-SPIRIT.
He told me everything was going to be alright.
He said, "Trust in me and I will show you the way."
He said, "I will take care of all/most HBCU's because they can't do it themselves."
He said, "Don't be proud of your HBCU heritage, HATE YOURSELF."
He said, "Hate your HBCU, DON'T PRAISE the Good things going on in the HBCU world."
He said, "There is no such thing as POSITIVE things going on at HBCU's."
He said, "Just follow me because I am the Alpha, Omega, and the MOON."
So fellow thread followers, I now SEE THE LIGHT.
I was hoodwinked and bamboozled into believing that HBCU's own talented people could figure out our own problems. I stand corrected.
I now see HBCU's through the MOONLIGHT.
It's not my job to talk about the positive things that HBCU's are doing, I'm supposed to HATE MYSELF.

The closest I've seen is when the paper or TV stations wants access to see who applied for presidents/chancellors positions when the school doesn't want that known. The most recent case I can recall was the Advocated joining in with the Reville (LSU's student paper) in suing for access to know who all applied for the LSU President/LSUBR chancellor position.
But completely redacting the information requested sends up all of the wrong signals.
A reporter friend requested police reports from the police department. It took her months to get the documents. When she did 90 percent of it was redacted. Total bitch move in my opinion. When entities do that it makes it appears as if they have something to hide.

- Most HBCU Administrators have there school's best interest at heart, but there are some that only want to use the position as a stepping without putting out a 100% job performance. There are at least 107 HBCU's and at least 35+ that play college football and my main argument all along was not to throw every school's administrators under the for the problems of a few. We look at our HBCU's through a vacuum without realizing that they reflect the real world. There are good employees, bad employees just like at the Predominantly White Universities. I know 2 wrongs don't make a right, but don't put HBCU administrators on a pedestal they can't balance. They are human-beings with faults just like you and I.
