DA Peterson can only do so much. If JPD botches the evidence or if there are no witnesses or if there's NO jail space, what else can she do?
Her conviction rate is 95 plus percent bruh. Didn't you know that?
If you didn't watch the trial, you have very little grounds to comment on the prosecution's case or the defense's case.
I DID watch the trial. The prosecution ran not only circles around Melton's defense, they demolished them, plain and simple. Melton's defense was the worst I've seen in a long time, that's why I'm shocked that he got off scott free.
It was no contest on all fronts.
Melton has to be an undercover FBI agent or CIA something or has undercover ties, cause no man should have gotten away scott free with what he did, no man.
Just thinking out loud.
I mean, I understand everybody having to face their day, but dayum!
What about the cases pending before all of this? Are they now gonna move as fast as this one?
If not, what does that say?

So those pictures with Frank and company tearing that house down was just imagination.
Those witnesses that lived right next door that testified to that fact were just imagining things.
The person that took the pictures doctered them and put Frank and company on them.
When ya'll gonna quit making excuses for a this man.

Obviously the evidence was not enough to convince a jury. I'm not making excuses for anybody. I'm just calling a spade a spade. There are too many criminals walking the streets of Jxn. Frank Melton, despite my opinion or yours, was found not quilty in a court of law. Just let it go man.

A city is always going to have criminals. That's why we have a police force(which is currently about 250 officrs short). However when you have a mayor doing whatever he wants while letting the city go to ruin in the process - that's much worse than any 50 criminals you imagine. A city without leadership is the worse thing imaginable. That's what we have right now.
For all the Melton apologists, is the city better or worse off than it was 2 years ago?

I am NOT a Melton apologist, but I think it is probably about the same. I've been in Jxn since 1988, and work in the city. But I haven't lived in the city in 12 years. I do not plan to ever live in the city again, regardless of who is mayor. That is a personal choice based on many factors, not just who is mayor. I do care about what happens in Jxn because it affects my job, people I know and it affects the surrounding areas as well. And it is the home of my beloved TIGERS.

It's much worse. Harvey Johnson may have been too methodical, but at least he had a plan for moving this city forward. Any development going on now started in his administration. He hired QUALIFIED people and let them do their jobs. His police chief wasn't some lackey that washes dished at his home. He had qualified people bringing money in from different sources to the city. Right now we're a city without any plan for the future. Just living day to day on the mayor's whims.

Mostly thanks to Melton buddy Dale Danks. In all honesty I don't expect any Mayor to stop the growth of the suburbs - that happens with every major city. But I do expect them to address the problems facing their own city and stimulate growth and new development. Johnson did that. So did Ditto. Melton hasn't.

The defense simply 'out-lawyered' the prosecution...
I wonder whether the DA's office had it's TOP GUNS prosecuting the case. I don't want to slight the guys who prosecuted the case. I just wonder were they the BEST the DAs office had....
The intent of the trial SHOULD have been about the unlawful distruction of an occupied dwelling...
But the trial WOUND UP being about intent.
The charges file in the case SHOULD have been about the actual unlawful destruction of a occupied dwelling. But the charges dealt with INTENT.
Maybe the DA should not have been so quick to INDICT. The Hinds County Grand Jury was already seated when these charges were brought...

Have you stood there & watch a mother offering to suck your dcik for
$5 or offer her 8 year old daughter to do the same?
Have you ever seen a grandmother being hit up side the head for $3?
Have you seen someone allow another to defecate in their mouth because they were hooked on crack?

There's no way you can logically compare Frank to anything remotely associated with Rosa Parks and MLKing...
Frank was acquitted, and we'll all live with the verdict......
And Frank does instill fear in some people, but it's the WRONG people.
There's not a crook or thug in Jackson that's scared of Frank.
In fact, it's just the opposite.
Most of the reputed crooks and thugs all know Frank.
They hang-out at Frank's house and char meat on the grill.....
And based on the trial, they just learned FIRST HAND that good lawyering can produce the results you want. Forget about the photos and the eye-witness accounts. Frank and Recio and Wright damaged that house, but the Courts have ruled they didn't..... So I guess the damage was a figment of our imagination. And Frank offering to pay for the damage was just a 'gentle gesture'..
But never fear, Frank'll do something else stupid and he'll run afoul of the Law again....
It's just a matter of when.....

That's the standard answer people give when they don't know what else to say. I've never met Danks so of course I have nothing personal against him. I don't like that since he's left office, everything he's done has been against the city that made him Mayor for 12 years.
Melton however, I have met and liked as a person since he used to come to my middle school. However I didn't support him as Mayor because i didn't think he had the temperment and patience needed to run a city. I was right.
I can draw parallels because you said Frank broke the laws on the books,And I agree, So did those in the civil rights movements. They broke Laws
That were on the books.
Now as far as the fear factor, that?s debatable. I know no one is scared to kill anyone in Jackson, because even if caught they will never be prosecuted. I was there when 8 murders were released on the same day. In fact it?s to my benefit to kill you rather
Than hurt you, because the aggravated assault charge has stiffer penalties than the murder rap.
What drug dealers you know? Someone in a fancy car @ Freelon?s
There?s thousands of drug dealers in Jackson.

Every defendant has a right to a speedy trial. That's exactly what Frank got - a speedy trial. As for the other criminals awaiting trial, it's up to their attornies to file the proper motions to get a trial. But since most of them are represented by overworked public defenders, it's not going to happen.
Also keep in mind that a case involving a public official like this one will usually get bumped to the front of the line. It's in the public interest NOT to have this case linger.
