Not to pick on you but this is a prime example of our mindset where we expect that hbcu's have to give an arm and a leg (figure of speech) to recruit that wasn't even looked at let alone offered anything at all. And it directly speaks to their mindset about their own worth.

We have to break this type of mental slavery

So basically, the kid should've chosen SU by default just because that's where his dad played.

Yeah Farmer was a bigger star than Sean.

I can see Farmer kid wanting to stay home. Kid was raised in California. So he really didn't have any connections to SU or HBCUs other than Dad played there.

I think it is harder to sell your kid to our schools if you stay far away from them and don't spend time around them enough. Whether they are an athlete or not. You got to expose them.
 
George Farmer was also born in Los Angeles. I remember him at SU, and the Jags had a number of California players in the team around his time there.
 
Over the last four decades of my life I've never met a white person who desires to be black, if I have I can count them on one hand, but I dont have enough toes and fingers to count the number of black people who desire what whites have. No other race does this. They desire to be better and have more then white folks.

Could you blame him not wanting to follow his Dad to his alma mater when he is considered maybe the greatest ever to run at JSU? Man that is some pressure. I remember Peyton Manning saying that about going to Ole Piss.

Now he could have looked at another HBCU. Robert Brazile son ended up at Grambling I believe.

Mike Gundy basically told Barry Sanders Jr. don't come to OSU because he wouldn't get the carries. But he wanted to go to the school his dad did. Had one decent game so far. OSU is starting a true freshman ahead of him.

I mean, if his pop played at SU, and they didn't offer him a scholarship, what do you expect? I agree with you, but we have to break these kids out of the "PWI is better" mentality. Until then, they run to wherever the money is.

Yep you so damn right, but I didn't pick the school, LOL I'm lying but I only stepped in when it was narrowed down to 2 and A&M staff was still shakey so I lent my expertise to the situation...snickering
 
Did anyone answer the question of weather or not Southern offered this man's child a scholarship, because I can't see him letting his son walk on at LSU and he has to pay for it...now that's would be some really dump shit on the part of his parents of which as you all stated at least one when was educated at Southern...Snickering
