Word out today is the the entire JSU Offensive Staff including the S&C coach's contracts will not be renewed!

Hendrick had two losing seasons and two winning seasons at Benedict (which isn't a football school).

Yep..we could do worse as has been proven with the last two hires. Hendrick resume is extremely better in comparison. I see it as the safe choice not the BEST choice.

Hendrick would be like Jackson and Hughes — 50-to 60-somethings who’ve never been a head coach at the Division 1 level despite decades in the college game.

After five years of stumbling around, JSU can’t go with safe. Safe sends the message that the program is content with just being good enough and not great.

Neither Hughes nor Jackson had been head coach nor coordinator. Hendrick has been both and has a much better coaching resume. I am not for nor against the hire as I can see it from both sides. From a continuity standpoint as an AD I can see playing it safe by bringing in a legit offensive staff which at this point has been the problem (horribles QBs and offensive line play). Too many coaching changes within the last 5 years (whether head coach or coordinators may also be playing a huge role in the decision).

I'd like to see us go out and get a proven head coach and staff as well (completely clean house).

Hendrick would not be a bad hire imo. Not a sexy hire but I would feel better than when we hired OMJ (that was a sad day for a brother) and I was skeptical about Tony Hughes.

Exactly he would be the SAFE hire since we already have a good sp teams and defense. The offensive staff he and Ashley brings in will make or break him. I can't see Ashley messing this up.

No HBCU can afford to risk 3 straight failures. That's one way to cause long term harm to a program.

The program seems to be trending upward. Much of our offensive woes stemmed from not having a decent QB and oline play regardless of what plays were called. QBs should be a huge priority for this next staff along with linemen. I'm surprised we won a couple of those games with our QB play or lack there of.
