That's really my point.
These people are acting like "wins" and "losses" in the SWAC mean something. They don't. Like I said, there's not a whole lot of difference between the last place team and the first place team other than a lucky bounce here or there.
Coach Broadway's first year at GSU, he went to the SCG and lost against JSU, with Doug's and Spear's guys. Coach Broadway's second year at GSU, he won the SWAC Championship (2008) with Doug's and Spear's guys. Greg Dillion was QB. Coach Broadway's third year at GSU, he went 7 - 4, with a mix of Spear's guys and his guys. Coach Broadway's fourth year at GSU, he went 9-2, with a mix of Spear's guys and his guys. At this point in time, we are playing with Broadway's guys. For the record, in case someone acts like they don't know what I mean when I say "so and so's guys", I mean players that were recruited under a particular head coach's tenure.
When Coach Broadway first came to GSU, he said he didn't have much talent on the team. He was not impressed at all with Frank Warren, said he was an "OK" running back. Yeah, right. Hell, I could have coached the players he inherited, and won with them too.
Coach Broadway was a decent coach in terms of coaching football. But he didn't respect the traditions of the "G", nor of the SWAC, nor of HBCUs in general. He made reference to Steve Spurrier so many times, til it was ridiculous. As MANY legendary football coaches as there were/are in HBCUs (and I stress MANY), Steve Spurrier's name never had to be mentioned.
Child, please. Kick rocks against a rubber wall with this crap some of y'all are talking.
What I'm about to say is going to make some heads boil.
But, James Bell was right. Looking at it from afar, his vision was dead on. He just didn't have the ability to make it happen.
Run the ball, play strong in the trenches and play good defense are the fundamentals of successful football everywhere. Too bad the guy couldn't coach a lick.
Because if he could, James Bell could have been the man to lead the SWAC out of the mediocre football malaise that many of you are so satisfied with. That type football would keep SWAC teams from getting beat by the Delta State's of the world.
Too bad he didn't have the ability to pull it off. Maybe somebody else will come along who can. Somebody like ... Doug Williams. Maybe? Somebody who understands it's not really possible to "win" clown football and a better product needs to be put on the field.
Hmmm ....
Another damn lie. Dude, james bhell inherited a team with the number one offense in, not the SWAC, but the nation. He overhauled it like an idiot with virtually the same players on the team the previous year. What rational person in his right mind does some stupid mess like that?
Jayrob your wasting your time bruh!!!! This dude has to be looking to argue with someone....
If I was looking to argue, neither of you two fit the bill. I'm bored already. Move along ....

TigerDiva get the HELL OUT OF HERE WITH THIS BULLSHI*!!!!!!!! YOU DAMN DOUG LOVERS GONNA LEARN BOOGER MAN AINT SHI* AND THAT INCLUDES THE JR AS WELL!!!!
You should be mad that your not able to shake your Grambling/ AKA POM POM like you have done in the past couple of years... Yall can come on here and front if you like but these TSPN FOLKS KNOW THE DEAL!!!!
JayRob, number one offense in the nation my ass.
The year before that team did nothing but throw the ball deep every play they could. That was NOT an offense. That was circus ball and stuff like that is a big reason the SWAC is in the shape it's in now.
So let me get this straight. You let the best coach in the SWAC go because he gave credit to a White man, but kept your program at or near to top of the SWAC? Oh, okay.
Noooowwwww look at where you are. You may have your first losing season since Spears last year of coaching. By the way, Spears couldn't even win at Grambling with his own players, yet you claim you could've done a better job than Broadway?
As the old saying goes, you don't miss your water til your well run dry.
Who are you? :noidea:
To whom it may concern, rabid animals get mad. I still shake my poms poms and my.....nevermind. I'm a diehard G-Lady. Have no doubt.

Trust me, JayRob. I ain't missing no water. I understand ups and downs, highs and lows. It's life. Just give me a good ole, HBCU-lovin' black man eeenty day. A real black man with pride in the accomplishments of HIS people and teaches that to his players. I'm frustrated about our record but it ain't the end of the world for me. We were in this SAME situation with Doug's first stint as HC at the "G". First year, losing season. Next years.....you know the deal! You were one of the victims.
Stop reading right there Broadway may not have just jumped for joy over HBCU's but his team were disciplined, smart and paid attention to detail recruited with a purpose seem like he never had to rely on a transfer and did a lot with little that Grambling has....good interior play and quarterbacks never lost the game except in the 2007 SCG..its not like you guys have the best facilities or anything like that but he kept GOOD RECRUITS THAT FIT HIS SYSTEM...Any team in the SWAC would take a coach like that....I know we would at JSU...
Hey! You're in luck! For $350K or more, you can have him at JSU. He'll leave where he is now. No doubt in my mind!
GOOD RECRUITS THAT FIT HIS SYSTEM.....errr raaaa, isn't that what folks are criticizing Doug of doing? Uh huh, I thought so.
Broadway went to the SCG with Spears players (who was nowhere what Broadway wanted) in 07 and won it in 2008 and went 9-2 last season....yea let me know how this season matches up to Broadway first year....

So you are mad because he gave props to Steve Spurrier(his former boss at Florida) that he probably learned a lot of things about running a football program from? I would gladly take a coach that averaged a 9-2 record and always had a well-coached and disciplined team.
On top of that, he did it taking over a team that went 3-8 the year before. But that's the mark of a good coach, one who can adjust his philosophy to fit the players he inherited.
Hey! You're both in luck! For $350K or more, you can have him at SU. He'll leave where he is now. No doubt in my mind!
YUPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!Did Broadway spit in your Kool-Aid?
