I present to you the dumbest comment ever made by a head coach (Doug Williams)

Dang.......I am glad some folks got involved at SU to keep this from being a circus on the bluff. We have enough issues. I can only imagine if Doug was 1-4 at SU. It would be worse than what Stump gets now. Hang in there Soggy, I got a feeling Doug aint going to last very long on this second stint at Gram.
I'm still jumping with joy. :jump:

SOG you know Grambling folk want us to kiss Doug's ass....these same SU folks damn near put out an assassination plot on Pete Richardson. JSU folks PUT an assassination plot on James Bell. PV folks gotten beaten to death and just said fugg it....our name is Toby.

Whoa Founder!!!!

Let's not get it twisted; just because PVers weren't (aren't, I guess) as vocal in mass #s doesn't mean that we never wanted better. Hell, I'm in the PV doghouse right now this very second because I expect and demand better because there's "better" around every fvcking high school w/in a 45 mile radius of PV's campus. :| And, it's become quite sickening watching funky assed LSU and Iowa St come in here and raid these damned schools, KNOWING that some of these kids and their mommas (not daddies :| ), really don't want to go far off but feel compelled to do so because aTm, uofh, ut-austin :retard:, and others have them on the "hook" telling them to wait because they're not sure if that 4-5star recruit in such-and-such is gonna' sign or not and if they don't, they'll offer them======> :retard:.

How do you know the last coach wouldn't be 1-4 this year?

I think Broadway would have had the confidence of his players that are still there and I doubt they regress with him. They knew his system. Remember Doug is changing things to fit his style. Broadway had his system and his players in place.

Right.

Since Doug is installing his system, I'm befuddled by the complaining after only five games. How do you install a new coach and his system and not expect there may be some bumps in the road?

Well I tried to help yall get Anthony Jones his dream job at Gram, but noooooooooooo, Yall were against it. Oh well, he still is available.

That's a fair question. How do you know the last coach wouldn't be 4-1? History and previous results indicate that it wouldn't be likely.

Perhaps.

But, you don't have the old coach. You have a new coach who is installing a new system. Which makes this whining and complaining after only five games irrational. No?

A decent coach who inherits a team that went 9-2 the previous year and inherits a team that designed to run a different scheme, doesn't completely blow shit up for the simple fact of doing things his way. You have to do it carefully...IF YOU WANT TO WIN! Doug has used, and will continue to use the argument that he just got to GSU in March and that he has kids that are not his. To that I say, fine, if you know you are getting there late, why the hell do you attempt to blow shit up?

Well, I'm guess the old coach is installing a new system at the school he is at too, but he is .500 on the season so far. I sho' wish my school was .500 so far at this point instead of .200.

IMO, every HBCU fan should be pissed and vocal about the level of coaching that's being displayed at our schools. Even when Pete Richardson would go 11-1, that 1 lost would be against a Nicholls State team with a losing record.

That's really my point.

These people are acting like "wins" and "losses" in the SWAC mean something. They don't. Like I said, there's not a whole lot of difference between the last place team and the first place team other than a lucky bounce here or there.

Doug is Grambling's Messiah. They bow up and down to him everytime he speaks and listen intently.

See I was going to give you a pass but I can't resist.

Yes there are those who view Doug as walking on water...but I'm not one of them. Doug is a small piece that made Grambling great. I hold Doug accountable and I am willing to give him 2 more years....if nothings gets better...he MUST go.

Me, you and others have something in common....we see that the SWAC of TODAY is not what it should be but we see these "old "traditional" heads" who like to flaunt their status and power try to downplay us. But don't worry though....the SWAC is going downhill. I'm through arguing with these older "traditional" generation people who don't realize that the year is 2011. The SWAC is about to be destroyed....all because we won't let pride and tradition leave in order to make room for innovation and adaptation.

Folks here will probably get hot if I told them that Bethune-Cookman played a MONEY GAME that was the Game of The Week on ESPNU. What HBCU has been featured in the Game of the Week PLAYING A MONEY GAME?!?! The MEAC has one. Can't say the same about the SWAC.

Keep on whupping our SWAC behinds in THINKING MEAC. You guys have a right to go ahead and leave the SWAC behind.

I think fans have a right to complain. If they are buying tickets, traveling to road games and financially supporting the school, then I see no problem with it. They are making an economic and emotional investment in that entity. I also see where Doug is coming from as well as a head coach. This pretty tame if you ask me.

That sounds like some "James Bell" stuff.

What I'm about to say is going to make some heads boil.

But, James Bell was right. Looking at it from afar, his vision was dead on. He just didn't have the ability to make it happen.

Run the ball, play strong in the trenches and play good defense are the fundamentals of successful football everywhere. Too bad the guy couldn't coach a lick.

Because if he could, James Bell could have been the man to lead the SWAC out of the mediocre football malaise that many of you are so satisfied with. That type football would keep SWAC teams from getting beat by the Delta State's of the world.

Too bad he didn't have the ability to pull it off. Maybe somebody else will come along who can. Somebody like ... Doug Williams. Maybe? Somebody who understands it's not really possible to "win" clown football and a better product needs to be put on the field.

Hmmm ....

I tried to tell yall that Broadway was not recruiting well. Doug is suffering from that. Give Doug a few years to get a WR and a RB.

I agree with Diougs premise. Sometimes you have to pull back from the urge to say it...but he is exactly right

Uhh, he have a WR and RB. He just realized he had a go to RB two games ago that he didn't even play in the first 3 games. He even admitted as much.

Not so sure of that Great One.

B'way recruited several I was impressed w/, namely shawt dog @ qb. Initially, when I first heard that Gram offered him, I lol'd due to his height. After reading his HS accomplishments and THEN looking some of his prior game film up, you couldn't help but note that he was #1 a fierce competitor and #2 he was a true field general. :read: He didn't make "stupid" mistakes and was a thinker. He had my respect before he was named Gram's starting QB. He really, really reminded me of this former fellow I once knew and I knew how fierce of a competitor he was and how he was driven to win, like Carrouthers.

Also, somewhere during the mid-90s to mid-00s, I noticed how Gram's o-linemen had begun to get "girth." (belly - fat) If you look some of those prev teams under Rob's years, those o-linemen were built like tanks and they could run like RBs. :read: Under B'ways tenure, I'd noted the change in the physicality and speed of Gram's o-linemen.

Most folk pay attention to the skill position guys and where the ball is. I pay attention to the trenches. :read:

Doug wants to go back to those "belly-fat" lineman.
