Speaking as a black coach myself, we have enough problems getting hired at "certain" places. It's like that in high school and definitely at the college level. So, I don't agree with our HBCUs just so freely giving head coaching opportunities to the "otha" man when there are hard-working, qualified black coaches who NEED places to work.
 
Now this is what I call a buyout clause...

Southern Miss: Jay Hopson has a four year deal making $500,000 per year (with potential to earn bonuses). If Hopson leaves during the first three years, he would owe Southern Miss $2 million. Seriously. Why? If they terminate him without cause they would owe his remaining salary ($500k per year, paid monthly), fully subject to offset.

You sound like the ignorant folks who keep forgetting that White folks don't look at hiring the best coach with Black males in mind, so why should we bow the knee and hire them? They won't do business with us, but we're supposed to overlook that and do business with them? That's like committing slow suicide.

Exactly. Let their own folks hire them. Heck, there are only what, four or five Black coaches out of 128 coaches in FBS football and this goodolebraves dude wants to give them even MORE jobs that other Black coaches are qualified for?! That kind of logic is irresponsible at the least.

Good programs will always find a way to get good talent. JSU has always recruited well, regardless of USMs status. If anything a good USM helps because they recruit better in places like Florida and Alabama. Alcorn may need a weak USM to recruit well but JSU does not.

Also having conversations with the AD isn't anything to brag about even the village idiot can speak to the AD at the grocery store or barber shop. They aren't hard to get in contact with at SWAC level programs sometimes its as simple as sending an email. i spoken to over half the conference ADs as well as others in here...

And Alcorn didnt even want Hopson as head coach. Alumni acted a plume fool when Brown named him as the coach. Now they are innovators for something they didn't even start..:rolleyes:

And just keep it real DCG you gotta thang for white coaches you've had a crush on him since he was named the HC at Alcorn...

What alumni acted a fool? A few not a majority so soeak on what u think you know...but that's typical JSU tho
 
I am very happy for Jay Hopson. He got his dream job after his hard work at Alcorn paid off. His contract is nothing to party about, but he really wanted the job therefore he wasn't going to give them any lip. It will be a different story once he starts winning.
