I agree, I'm glad someone knew there history enough to understand why I said Simmons to USM is very possible.
Hop put his own money into the program also no one else will do that
Hey Alcorn!!!! This guy has the moving truck already packed

"Hopson better keep our current staff or this is all for not, PERIOD."

They even poked "fun" at our Hopson to USM thread on here...
Stump did
Might be a signJackson did too...
You sound like the ignorant folks who keep forgetting that White folks don't look at hiring the best coach with Black males in mind, so why should we bow the knee and hire them? They won't do business with us, but we're supposed to overlook that and do business with them? That's like committing slow suicide.Only a fool would not request the best man for the job. Hell black, white, yellow, green it shouldn't matter. But you really didn't understand the logic DCG was talking bout. I forgot your school ran off a hell of a coordinator in the early 90's because he was white. You just don't know better.
Exactly. Let their own folks hire them. Heck, there are only what, four or five Black coaches out of 128 coaches in FBS football and this goodolebraves dude wants to give them even MORE jobs that other Black coaches are qualified for?! That kind of logic is irresponsible at the least.Speaking as a black coach myself, we have enough problems getting hired at "certain" places. It's like that in high school and definitely at the college level. So, I don't agree with our HBCUs just so freely giving head coaching opportunities to the "otha" man when there are hard-working, qualified black coaches who NEED places to work.
I don't think he is in the mindset, I really believe he misunderstood her post. That "demanded a white coach" comment was crazy.

Jackson did too...
Good programs will always find a way to get good talent. JSU has always recruited well, regardless of USMs status. If anything a good USM helps because they recruit better in places like Florida and Alabama. Alcorn may need a weak USM to recruit well but JSU does not.
1. Shannon left JSU for a better job in 2001. He wasn't run off.
2. There is no logic in requesting a white head coach. None whatsoever. DCG said that's what she specifically wanted - not the best man for the job but a white man. Ignorance at its best.
3. I think you're stuck in a mindset that believes Hopson was great for Alcorn in part because he's white. That's dumb as hell and self defeating.
4. I can understand you being upset because basically the best fit you'll ever have as HC just walked away from you the weekend before signing day. Damn shame - it's another 20 years of wandering in the wilderness.
Dude, sorry OMJ beat you in Lorman and should've won last year. Even one of our worst coaches beat Alcorn and had them on the ropes in the second game.
Now you'll go back to being perennial doormats or next to last in the East now that Hopson's gone. I'll give it 2-3 years.
Ok I gotta question isn't Mike still there at TXSo as you guys Asst. AD and he is WHITE? I've talked to him on numerous occasions great guy with alot of connections. He was suppose to be our AD but it was BS behind that by I say that because I'm 100 percent sure he knows coaches white and black you don't think him and Charles have had conversations about candidates? I know he said if he got the JSU gig he had candidates in mind...
I can imagine Charles sitting there in amazementat your concerns about other races (whites) being football coaches for TXSo. With all the racial injustice going on I celebrate black coaches because its not easy for them..Not to say I have a problem with white coaches because I dont at all but I understand the black man struggle out here..I like seeing black kids being lead by black leadership..like i said it aint easy out here.
Also having conversations with the AD isn't anything to brag about even the village idiot can speak to the AD at the grocery store or barber shop. They aren't hard to get in contact with at SWAC level programs sometimes its as simple as sending an email. i spoken to over half the conference ADs as well as others in here...
And Alcorn didnt even want Hopson as head coach. Alumni acted a plume fool when Brown named him as the coach. Now they are innovators for something they didn't even start..
And just keep it real DCG you gotta thang for white coaches you've had a crush on him since he was named the HC at Alcorn...
Hopson looks so happy now. Before today he always had a smug on his face. Looked emotionless.
He REALLY wanted that SoMiss job.
