Hopson to USM

We all knew he would leave but not this soon. Best of luck to him. Alcorn should play USM.

Really??? Did "we" think he was gonna be a 10-year vet in the SWAC?? Win 3-4 championships?? Man, Hopson was subsidizing Alcorn's program with his own money and resources. How long did "we" think that was going to happen?? That dude was looking for the first thing halfway smoking out of town. Best of luck, Alcorn, on the next hire.

USM's Hopson: "I'm Home"

Jay Hopson stood in front of a room full of Southern Miss student-athletes, coaches, fans and dignitaries Monday afternoon needing only two words to encapsulate the breadth of his emotions.
“I’m home,” he said to a crowd featuring Golden Eagle legend Jeff Bower and former star quarterback Austin Davis.....

“It’s the opportunity of a lifetime and a dream job for me,” he told the more than 300 that gathered on the Hattiesburg campus Monday. “Words can’t express my gratitude. The journey was long and hard but to get back here was always my dream.”
And when he was approached with the opportunity to return to Hattiesburg, he didn’t hesitate.

“It was a great feeling,” he said. “Because this is a destination place for me. Bill told me he was offering me the job and he can tell you, it was a quick handshake. There wasn’t a lot of negotiation in this process. A lot of times, there are negotiations but Jay Hopson wanted this job.”

(Welp, home is where the heart is as they say)

Even though the CL didn't direct quote it, wonder if Hopson publicly thanked Alcorn for giving him a chance to be a head coach? I mean they were responsible for getting him to his "dream job".

Not one time did Hopson specifically and publicly thank Alcorn for giving him the opportunity to coach at the school, which in turn paved the way for his new job at USM.
If there was no Alcorn, there'd probably be no Coach Hopson at USM.

Sources: Alcorn State defensive coordinator Tony Pecoraro will join Jay Hopson's staff at Southern Miss

Never heard y'all mention the name PECORARO much on here.
