Talk about some bad blood. Sit both directos down and the bands and show them some video of Katrina and if they refuse. Point blank the band means more than the moment and that's some SAD *hit. At that point I know this Band things has gone to FAR.:shame: :shame: :shame:

GUD STANDS UP AND CLAP!!!!

To be real honest GUD, there's too much bad blood between Southern and Grambling and don't believe the bands would come together like that. It's sad but true...I could be wrong. I know for sure, I don't believe Doc would have done it, while he was in charge...don't really know about Jackson, but I know he still runs the band similar to Doc.

Actually there really isn't bad blood between the bands. Never has been. Doc and Hutch were cool. Pannell and Jackson are KKPSI frat bros. Gramblings band has always been nice to Doc. The bad blood is this internet crap.

JR, there's plenty of bad blood between SU and GSU, and it goes waaaaaaay beyond TSPN, dear.

Is it too late for it to happen? Anybody want to volunteer to mediate?

If not, I would love to see something like that happen.
That would be wonderful to see--- if but nothing but to play the same arrangement of America the Beautiful or something. And have some footage on the screen the hurricane victims and any footage of both schools helping the victims, etc.

If done for pre-game show, it would be even greater, if NBC aired that, too.

I like this idea right hur!!!!!!

The funny thing about this whole thing is.. I have PLENTY good friends that marched for GSU... When they needed a roof I was there for them and still will be....
It's actually the folk who DON'T be on here that would be a problem if GSU and SU got together...

From talking to Mr.J, I don't know if he has bad blood with GSU he has family that went and marched for GSU I believe. Doc never had band blood with GSU neither, he talked about them something funny though...lol

But off of that surface it isn't no where near the best of blood between to two bands...

Yes, there's time if worked on now!

Get both directors on the phone, find an arrangement, practice and make arrangements to practice together (both bands) at least one time on the Friday before the game.

Go through each school's public relations dept. to see about getting footage from both schools, decide on a person to edit the materials, then get it approved by both schools to run on the screens at the game. If that can't be done, see at about running Spike Lee's recent documentary on the screens while the bands play. If that can't be done, go to local TV stations, buy copies of newscasts that ran that were centered on Hurricane Katrina and its victims and give credit to the stations (for legal purposes)

Also, talk to the promoter or whoever is in charge of classic and see about getting on for a pre-game show (to make sure other things aren't already scheduled or filled up).

And get a representative to talk to NBC execs. about getting coverage for pre-game (if possible). NBC may already do (I don't know). Though it would be pre-game, this whole game is special (with it being the first time back in the dome since the hurricane), that's something newsworthy and could be covered.

It can all be done, if pushed... and if you have competent people in place.

Not band wise.................. That bad blood between fans has nothing to do with the band. Trust me I marched in the Jukebox and have been coming around our band program since my marching days. Doc never had no bad feelings towards GSU band......that's why they always gave him something at the BC BOTB the last few years.. So the animosity does not exist between the band powers that be. Pannell harbours no ill will towards SU. We have talked to him several times over the years. Pretty cool dude.

Co-Sign. Jared I think what Warn is saying reflects the fans perspective of the bad blood with Gram. Jukes and World Fame members have never had that kind of bad blood that I can ever remember. We got along well with the Frat and other members of the World Fame back in the day and like you said Doc never had any issues with them either and from the way they treated him they didn't either. I don't think Jackson dislikes anybody. He is too good of a man to be that way. He is competative but not hateful.

If there is any bad blood...it is of recent years...in 94, I can remember when we marched out to the buses after the battle...some vendors were passing out Cokes and Gatorade to the band members. After we put our instruments away, members from both bands were in the parking lot chillin and actually complimenting each other...like we were telling them they blew the isht out of that song "You will know" and they told us we killed them with our version of "End of the Road"...it was some people tryna holla and set up something for the night...many jukes went over to the hilton to play games like truth or dare and sleepers with some of the girls in gram band...other people from both bands went to kick it on Bourbon...i know this type of kickin it happened for a few years...don't know if it still occurs now...but def not any bad blood then!!!:smash:

LOL. It has always been that way during Classic. We hung out with them after the game and had some good times. Now before the game and during it was WAR.

Actually Doc and Panell use to talk on the phone quite often. There is no bad blood just alot of smack talking. I remember kicking it with some GSU folks at the Hilton after the BOTB's and the game. This is a great idea and would be a great way to bring the Classic back home.

Yeah, at the early morning pregame practice in the dome you could always tell who had a rough night before in each band...:D

This joint performance could and definitely should be done...there is plenty of time to make this a pregame type performance...

honestly...if GSU was able to perform with U of H, with preparation time of a week, there is no reason that SU and GSU cannot do it in two weeks time...

Someone please try to get both directors on the phone...
