He didn't think that we aere running the ball that well. We weren't running at will all day long. We have lived by the pass, and sometimes we will die by the pass...... If it converts then we aren't talking about thi and Spears is a great coach, but it didn't happen like that. I'm fine with the outing. We will be back, and gett better week after week. We won't lose to anymore HBCU's. I know that!!

Man we were INSIDE the 10. Regardless of whether or not we were running well, this is a clear example that Bruce is no longer a player hence we need to examine our OTHER options in practice. Also, Bruce calling plays is pass friendly. We have a running back with the skills. ESPECIALLY inside the 10...hell we were on the 8 to be exact.

Man please, after watching Hampton I know atleast 4-5 SWAC teams could have beat them. You were up and let a freshman quarterback who is terrible bring his team back. Just accept the fact that Spears blew it and move on. You are definitely showing how school pride blinds common sense. If that was SU, or Valley or anybody else, yo ass would be saying the same thing we are telling you now.
I've moved on, but other people are still posting and I will defend the "G" Nobody in the SWAC would have come close to Hampton today.... How can you say that when no other school in the SWAC has played thus far, but Alcorn? This is funny.....

I'm sure we will adjust.... I know that we are Grambling, but we have lost before.......... Today might have been the best thing that could have haooened to this team for this season.....

Man I ain't trippin GSU lost by one point in overtime. Lander played a good game despite the fact he had tragedy in his family losing his brother and a cousin in critical condition in the same week of this game. This man really has heart.

The only thing I'm mad about is the location of the game who decide to have this game in Birmingham, AL that city just out right sucks. And Bama doesn't support any football or schools outside of Bama. It also sucks for the SWAC Championship too. The game would of been better off at Grambling or Hampton campus stadium.

Why would you expect there to be droves of Bama BCF fans there when both AAMU & ASU have games in close proximity today? Gram nor Hampton brought any kind of fans to the game. ESPN was trying their best not to show the stands...sad.

As I stated months ago when it was decided to play this game in Birmingham; the game should have been played in Washington, DC or NYC.

I hope you guys realize that the decision to play this game was not in the hands of Grambling or Hampton..

We all know that....it's just a shame the powers that be don't recignize the locale of where games are played stimulates recruitment to both schools...

I think they ought to have the game in or around the city or state of whoever the home team is or the winning team was the previous year....

Sweets...please hush! If that is the case, take a look at the Grambling roster and tell me how many people are from B-ham.

Your point is make no sense. Beside, this game was televised.

The way I saw it, Grambling and Hampton are the two heavyweights of BCF. Both teams missed opportunities to put this game away in regulation. Without question both teams are loaded with talent offensively and defensively. Spears has to adjust his play-calling (life without Bruce) until Landers establishes himself as THE leader. Hampton's new OC has to adjust to the speed of college football. Landers hasn't played in 2yrs and there is a difference between practice and game speed.

Bottom-line, we all better bring our "A" game.

Hampton 27, Grambling St. 26

Associated Press

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Derius Swinton blocked Grambling State's point-after attempt in overtime to preserve Hampton's 27-26 victory in Saturday's season-opening SWAC/MEAC Challenge.

Kevin Beverly scored on a 10-yard pass from TJ Mitchell to open the overtime scoring for Hampton. Grambling State answered with Tim Abney's 12-yard scoring pass from Brandon Landers, but Swinton averted a second OT period with his block.

Hampton had tied the game with Mitchell's 9-yard TD pass to Onrea Jones with 1:10 left in regulation, a drive that began with Landers' fumble at Grambling State's 13-yard line.

Grambling moved downfield, but Tim Manuel's 44-yard field goal attempt as time expired went wide left.

The game featured last year's champions from the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

Hampton dominated on the ground, running for 203 yards while limiting Grambling to 30. Van Morgan ran for 82 yards and Alonzo Coleman gained 72 for Hampton.

Mitchell completed 6-of-16 passes for 85 yards with an interception. Princeton Shepherd was 8-of-11 for 120 yards, and Marquay McDaniel had six receptions for 113 yards.

Landers finished 21-of-41 for 273 yards, throwing touchdown passes to four different players. He was intercepted once.

G-Man75 what are you talking about. The playcalling was horrible. Everytime we moved the ball is because we either ran or threw the 4 to 6 yard route and allowed the receiver to use his ability. Why have all those talented receivers if you don't know how to get them the ball. We went deep far to many times and it wasn't open. Hampton has good corners.

Defensively, Palmer doesn't have a clue. Force the QB to beat you. They were not good passers. Put seven men in the box and execute a run blitz but under control. Force the damn QB into 3rd and long. Stunt the damn dline where they can dictate the game to Hampton. We were basically cat fighting game long. We got a positions coach as DC. And we need to send the oline coach back to Jackson State. Absolutely no adjustments made by Grambling at all. Thank God it was HOT!!!!

COACHING..........COACHING:vomit: :vomit: :vomit: :redhot: :redhot: :redhot: :redhot:

This is the worst coaching in a single game i have seen in a long time. I siad this mess all summer long. DO not TRY TO TURN LANDERS INTO EUGENE AND I BE GOTDAYUM IF WE DON'T COME OUT FIRST SERIES ALL PASSING:vomit: :vomit: :vomit:

I AM SO FUKKIN PISSED AND I JSUT GOT BACK!!!!!!:redhot: :redhot: :redhot:

Can't blame Landers cause his coaches put him in terrible situations and kicker missed the fg but the block is not his fault that the protection. HIRE A K coach while we hiring allthese rb coaches ........FOR WHAT !!!

I betta go to the private forum quick:uzi: :uzi: :uzi: :uzi:

STC GOES TO SMACK TO FACE MUSIC----------->GOTDAYUM!!!

Spears is arrogant for no reason. The guy is an idiot.
He's been winning with superior athletes. Woe be unto him if he ever has to coach up a win.

I still can't believe they tried to pass on that 3rd down way back in their own territory. Hampton's backup QB could throw a fit. Punt the ball and force them to drive for a TD, which they hadn't done all half.

This game is done and over. Film sessions have started for the next game. I think in winning and losing everybody plays a part. Regardless of what plays are called the players MUST execute the plays. Guys don't get on here and act like we didn't have an opportunity to win this game. You must take advantage of every opportunity so it doesn't have to come down to a field goal/extra point. If Spears is a village idiot, then the SWAC must have a lot of villages. You can't please everybody and I'm sure Spears doesn't give a damn what cyber/any critics think. What people say doesn't define who you are and how you succeed. I think that everybody will learn from this game, and this one game is not our season. We have another game Saturday, and I think that Grambling is adjusting.

Dude, your coach lost that game. Plain and simple. You say players have to execute, but your coach shouldn't put the players in a position to lose the game. That's what Spears did.

And yes, there are a few village idiots on the sidelines. Your coach just had the luxury of having better athletes. You get what you got yesterday when he has to actually coach.
