Future Out of Conference Schedules

Seems like Brown will be the starter and Smith the back-up, with Lankford possibly getting some reps in the Auburn game. We will see how it goes.
I think we gotta live and die with Brown as the triggerman. He's dynamic enough to put this team on his back and we'll have to take the occasional negative plays from him. I wouldn't be surprised to see Smith though especially in the run game.

Does anyone know if the AAMU v. Tennessee State game will be televised?

Don't know how being apart of PWI conference means a HBCU is now a "white" HBCU is beyond me. Hampton, NC A&T State, and Tennessee State (who supporters fought over 10 years in federal court against the state of Tennessee and won) are still holding true their founding values and all have a majority black student student population and faculty\staff. What Tennessee State has done in a very hostile environment is great and have use the increase in travel costs to their advantage with the OVC and Big South Alliance. I can see in the near future that all of their out of conference games could be against HBCUs (except for one game against an FBS school).

As far as Grambling State playing Ohio State, it is a good move if they manage to hold their own and they can actually clear a profit from the trip.

This aged like top shelf Cisco

LOL. FBS Schedules is very late on this announcement. John Grant announced the Jackson State - Norfolk State game back in July on "The Carlos Brown Show"

The South Carolina State Bulldogs have added the Virginia State Trojans to their 2026 football schedule, it was reported Monday.

South Carolina State will host Virginia State at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg, S.C., on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026. The contest will be the first between the two schools.

The Virginia State Trojans compete in the Division II Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). Virginia State finished the 2025 campaign 6-4 (4-3 CIAA), logging a fourth-place finish.

With the addition of Virginia State, South Carolina State has four non-MEAC opponents booked for the 2026 slate. The Bulldogs host The Citadel on Saturday, Oct. 3, with a to-be-announced home date with SWAC foe Alabama State. South Carolina State will also travel across the Palmetto State to Paladin Stadium in Greenville to face Furman. That date has not yet been set.

For years, Lincoln football has become a familiar name to HBCU fans, especially during homecoming season. That will change in 2026. On January 6, 2026, Lincoln University of California announced that Desmond Gumbs stepped down as head football coach. He will remain the school's athletic director. The university also confirmed that Lincoln football will not compete during the 2026–2027 season.

The announcement followed a turbulent period for the program. Lincoln football faced multiple forfeits during the 2025 season. The team still appeared on several HBCU schedules despite those challenges.

In 2025, Lincoln played Alcorn State, Prairie View A&M, Mississippi Valley State, and UAPB. Those games continued a trend that stretched back several seasons. Lincoln football had become a recurring nonconference opponent for HBCU programs.
