The committee already stated that winning the conference does not automatically guarantee a spot in the playoffs. They wanted the four best teams and they got them....and all with ONE loss.

Yeap last 2 times the Big 10 made it ended with both Michigan State and Ohio State losing by 30+ points and not scoring. lol
 



According to Vegas right now, Alabama is a two point favorite over Clemson. Had Ohio State gotten in, OSU would be at least a seven point underdog. The committee got it right.

Bama losing by double digits to the team that got blown out in the conference title game makes them better than Ohio State, huh?

And don't forget about Iowa getting blown out by Stanford.
Plus Bama scheduled Florida State for the first game when they were ranked number 3.

But folks sure looking at that 31-point loss by Ohio State that happened a month ago to justify why they should be in the CFP.

And Bama didn't play the strongest of schedules either. They played Mercer, a 5-6 team a week before Auburn. The get a pass for beating down a cupcake and then losing to the best team on its schedule by the end of the season? El Oh El.

Last year and the year before has nothing to do with this season...with one exception. Last year Ohio State didn't win its conference (just like alabama this year) and didn't belong there to begin with (just like alabama this year)...and they were beaten (will see if history continues to repeat itself, if so we can stop with the foolishness of the eye test and go with with champions)

And? Even with that, they only had one loss and it wasn't by four TD's to an UNRANKED team. Let that marinate. What if Bama had lost to an unranked team by four TD's? There's no way they'd make it and neither should they.

No team can control their opponent's record, but they can control how they play each game. They can control not losing by four TD's to an unranked team.

If Alabama doesn't belong, then who does?
Right now, Vegas has Bama favored over top-ranked Clemson...and Vegas is usually on point.

What are you doing on behalf of Ohio State? Dude, they lost by two TD's at home to Oklahoma, then turned around and lost by 31 to an unranked team. You can't give up 55 points and expect to be named among the top four elite. Why are you even trying to debate this?

A conference champion earned the spot that bama didn't. Pick one, I don't care which.
Being a hot team doesn't mean you're the best team. Bama is capable of beating clemson. we'll see if that happens. History says they don't belong. Has a non-conference champion one a game in the playoff yet?

If a team can get in without winning its division or conference and lose the last game it played, then everything is up for debate.

Why isn't Wisconsin considered? It had only one loss, which was to a top 6 team. Why isn't UCF considered? They have a better SOS than Miami.

Didn't you say this is a different year? Besides, the committee didn't stress conference champion. They stressed "the best four teams".
I'd even say that Bama's better than Georgia, so conference champion might mean very little in the entire scheme of things.
Folks just want competitive games on New Year's day, not blowouts before halftime.
The Bama/Clemson game would be more competitive than a Clemson/Ohio State game don't you think?

Had Wisconsin been number one and lost, perhaps they'd have a chance by falling to number four.
Any how, they played terrible against an Ohio State team who already had two losses and Wisconsin had no significant wins.
 
Hmmm....Tough decision the committee had to make. It is easy to justify why either team should have been #4. Personally, I don't like Alabama and wish they weren't in that 2011 BCS championship game or picked for the playoff game this season. However, I understand that this wasn't a clear cut decision and one can have a never ending debate about it.....
 
Gotta love how people are conveniently minimizing that OSU Iowa loss and forgetting about Alabama beating the 3rd ranked team in the country week 1...

If I ever run for public office, I'm putting some of yall on my campaign team

They still finished 2016 10-3 and were ranked #3 to start 2017.

You play the teams on your schedule, when they are scheduled.

The idea that "Alabama hasn't played anybody" is silly. Had they lost that game, it would have counted against them
