College Football Playoff

BS They lost to Penn State in the Big 10 title and still made it dayum Ohio State.

They lost in the regular season at Happy Valley, not the Big Ten title game. Then Penn State struggled for a half with Wisconsin in the Big Ten title game. The committee will always do what they want. LOL. No biggie. Ohio State will be back with the Haskins era starting next Fall.

Georgia is going to pound Oklahoma hard with the running game. They better be hitting the weights cause Georgia is going to be physical with them. I wouldn't be surprised to see an angry Alabama vs. Georgia in the national championship final.

UGA better not let OU offense got behind them in the secondary. I don't know if they can get into a shoot out with Mayfield.

JT killed y'all with those turnovers.

stack the box and make the qb beat you. don't let those backs beat you.

Oklahoma's weakness is its pass defense.

JR, we're guaranteed a halfway decent two games thanks to Ohio State not being one of those teams.
What are your thoughts?

Yeah but JR we've seen this before with a "prolific" OU offense that people thought couldn't be stopped. Remember they took a better offense with Mayfield, Samaje Perine, Dede Westbrook and Sterling Shepard into the playoffs and played a REAL defense in Clemson......a fast physical SEC style defense and got punched in the mouth, 37-17 and 0 points in the second half. If Georgia's defense is for real #4 and #2 against the pass, those open windows and lanes that Faker Mayfield is used to will be much smaller and close much faster and he'll have to hold the ball an extra second or two and that's trouble. The key is........OU's defense is TERRIBLE.......if they can't stop the run game, Georgia can control the clock and OU won't get the ball enough to even get into a shootout.

That's what I think OU will HAVE to do........they'll have to try to rattle Fromm which is possible as a freshman........OU is taking a big chance doing that because their DB's suck. But that's the game plan I'd go with if I was OU. That's their only chance to stop the run. I hate OU, they won't win the title. Can't win trying to out score everybody with no defense.........UNLESS you play in the big 12.

Well, they didn't need to get into a shootout with TCU -- a top 10 defense in the FBS -- to handily beat them twice over a three-week period.

Clemson not an SEC team.

No they don't. Y'all still gonna complain.

The biggest complaint with be the 2 at large bids....Yet, all conference winners would go to the playoff which in turn would make every game count just as much. Also, those 8 conferences would move away from the "cupcake" pay out games even more because they know those games will hurt if they are close.

That's not true. Ohio State probably makes the playoff if it played a lesser squad rather than Oklahoma in non-conference play.

TCU is #19 in defense. Looking at the eyeball test, TCU is not the TCU people think they were on either side of the ball. Kenny Hill is not good and their defense is good but it's not a top notch defense. not surprised by OU beating TCU like that. TCU can't run the ball like Georgia and is nowhere near as physical up front as Georgia. I still think it's a toss up but I'll have to go with the team that has the better defense.

Yeah, they dropped from No. 8 to No. 19 after the OU game.

could be Clemson an OU but remember this...........OU has had the luxury of running through a big 12 schedule that plays NO DEFENSE. Best defense they've faced all season was TCU who's #19 and frankly VERY overrated. All other big 12 defense are outside the top 40. Georgia's defense is #4 and #2 against the pass. Remember , OU took this same Lincoln Riley offense with a better cast with Mayfield, Samaje Perine, Dede Westbrook, Joe Mixon and Sterling Shepard) and put up bigger numbers and points in 2015 than they're doing this year.........only to run into a team that COULD play REAL defense in the first round of the playoffs.........and got their asses kicked 37-17 and shut out int he 2nd half. I think OU will maybe win but it will be real close and don't be surprised if GA wins. Remember OU's defense SUCKS........ranked 42 I think.........they haven't seen a run attack like the 4 RBs that Georgia has. Should be a good one.
You left off the fact that Oklahoma ran through Ohio State's #8 ranked defense. The difference between OSU and Georgia in Passing rank (300 total yards) is the fact that OSU played Baker Mayfield who threw for 386 vs them. Georgia didn't face a QB even capable of doing that so you really can't base their schedule difficulty on that. And in 2015 Mayfield was not as good as he is now. Not even close.

ok noted. but use your football eye Kendrick.....not sure if you've watched them all year........I live out here in Dallas and have watched TCU all year, they're not and were not a top defense when you see them play. Anytime you give up 36 to SMU at home, 31 the week after and then 24 at home to WVU and 22 to a bad Baylor team at home, you're not a top defense.

I get it though, OU's offense looks good but again, we've seen that movie before heading into the playoffs. Toss up .

I cover the Big 12/Oklahoma State. I've seen TCU play a lot. They have a really good defense. It held OSU -- with the nation's top passer, two 1,000-yard receivers and the best RB in the Big 12 -- to 31 points on the road. And it's no shame giving up 24 to West Virginia. Its quarterback finished in the top 10 in TD passes and its receiver led the nation in TD catches. No mention of them holding Texas Tech to 3 points in Lubbock? Nobody does that.

I don't think OU has had a QB in the BCS era, or in this current CFP era whose been as good as Mayfield. If OU wins the national title, it will because of him. OU lost two NFL RBs and its best WR from last year and are best offense in the country, thanks in large part because of No. 6.

noted. give me Georgia's defense any day over OSU though. Eyeball test man. faster, more physical. You're right though, Georgia didn't face a top QB and OU and mayfield didn't face but one good defense, so it's a wash. On paper, give me the better defense all day. But again remember........we said that last time. Oh Clemson hasn't faced an offense like OU's and what happened. Not saying the same thing will happen but there are people who seem to think OU is unstoppable and will just run circles around Georgia.

Faker Mayfield plays against some of the THE WORST defenses in the power 5 so he SHOULD look good. Not saying if he was better or not two years ago, my point is.......overall, when a team hasn't faced a faster stronger defense all year and then you face one that's nothing like what you've seen.......it's a totally different ball game. OSU's defense is not Georgia's. and giving up 48 offensive points to Iowa, sorry, you're out of the conversation.

Ok so you're telling me TCU's defense is top rated with Georgia? They have a really good defense.......not a TOP rated defense. ok I'm sorry, 31 points??? That's not good defense man, I don't care who they're playing. You don't give up 24 points at home if you're a TOP rated defense. and definitely not 36 at home to SMU........I noticed you left that one out. :). Dude seriously? Texas Tech? C'mon Kendrick. Ok, but I'll play along and give you that one.

Kendrick, they're offense is the best in the country again.........because the defense they play are pure garbage, numbers don't lie. Let me ask you this......would they put up those same numbers in the ACC or SEC? Be honest.

You're missing my point........the Big 12 is notorious lately in CFB for having bad swiss cheese defenses. Yes if they win it will be because of Mayfield..........they're offense runs because of him. The's accurate and good but I'll say it again.......we've seen that before. Mayfield was a half notch lower in 2015 than where he is now looking at the numbers.and he was very good then too. All I'm saying is.....look at what happened when they faced a more balanced team with a style of defense that they haven't seen all season. Nobody that they've played, not even OSU was as fast and physical as what they're gonna see with Georgia.

Again, my point is.......I'm calling it a toss up......but I'll go with the team with the better defense. people seem to think they're gonna roll out 40 points against Georgia.

Who said that last time? I don't know if anyone picked OU over Clemson that year.
