That's according to rivals. I think ESPN had Florida at #1.

Actually they were penalized 5 yards for not having enough men at the LOS and got 2 back on a personal foul call after the play. It was 3rd and 1 when they decided to pass the ball. When everybody has been talking about how much tougher Bama was than Texas, I thought that would have been a good opportunity to line up and make a statement. They settled for 3 instead.

True!! They tried to go on a quick count. I just think it took the game in a totally different direction for both teams, obviously Texas, but also Alabama. For me, it really took the edge and excitement from the game.

Maybe...maybe not. There was a lot of bad coaching on both sides of the ball. I was listening to a college football talking head before the game that said something like "the easiest way to lose a game like this is to come out and try to be something you're not". For the better part of the first half that's exactly what Bama did. Why did it take them so long to decide to run the ball in the first half? Why did they go away from the running game so often? That was frustrating to watch especially when it seemed like someone from Texas was in the backfield on every pass play.

yeah I had checked about 2 weeks ago... Texas, Bama, and Florida had some big pickups in that Under Armour All Star game this past weekend... I dont think UA had any.. dont even think I heard LSU's name called.

1. You could tell right away that Gilbert was NOT ready to be in there. He might have been a good passer, BUT he is a true freshman playing in the national championship against one of the best defenses in the country. You don't ask your quarterback in that position to make something happen. That dude could not even think straight when he first got in.

2. I thought the shuffle pass was not that bad of a call. The running back dropped the damn ball. Brown said he called it to so they can take a shot at the endzone. Hey, Saban called a fake punt on 4th and 23 in his own territory. That was stupid. He was lucky Texas did not score a touchdown.

3. I believe Colt wanted to go out there and play in the biggest game of his life. You can't tell me that kid was thinking about the NFL when his shoulder was hurting. His dad probably told him don't play.

I think Texas' defense had something to do with that.

Really, just think about that for a minute. A team loses it 4 year all everything record 2 time Heisman runner up and is replaced by a true freshman quarterback. There is not anyone in there right mind that would suggest that there should be a chance in hell, especially with the pundents not thinking that Texas had much of chance in the first place.

In Bama's first 2 drives they passed the ball 6 times and ran it twice. I think one of the run's was an 18 yard gain by Ingram. None of the passes picked up a positive yard. With 2 mins left in the first quarter they ran the ball 5 out of 6 plays and marched down the field for Ingrams first TD. The second quarter was much of the same. A lot of success running. Not much success passing.

Now the second half was a different story. Whatever adjustments Texas made at halftime to stop the run worked like a charm.
 
If blocked correctly that shuffle pass would not have been a bad play. Due to Shipley two touchdowns in the second half, Bama changed their defensive scheme and caught Texas off guard....


PS: Just got a call that Academy Sports is off the chain with fans trying to buy National Championship gear.........

They just showed the line wrapped around Dicks Sporting Goods in Huntsville... CRAZY... Dicks can open up late, but schools closed tommorow for bad roads LOL

3. Me...they should have came out passing more in the first half so he could get his rhythm...you, me, and half the nation knew that Texas running game was so so!

probably my favorite play of the game.... the big DT Marcel Darreus from Bham's Huffman High getting into the endzone for the TD then CHUNKING the ball and getting a penalty flag for excesive celebration LOL:lol::lol::lol:

I didn't even watch... glanced at the screen a few times, but really wasn't interested. Harder and Harder to watch FBS football games....

Huffman is my sister's alma mater...a lot of good athletes come from back there in the Ham...
