Being neutral, and from a bandsmen point of view, many things can be said about both schools. As far as new and old skool is considered, I fit someone where from the middle. With that being said, both sides need to consider a few things.
:read:Although Grambling has been going through challenges in regards to respect from their peers in the marching band world, lets not forget why they are "The world famed". Like it or not, its the truth. The problem is, many of these "new skool" folks entered the band world during a period in which their program happened to be doing ok. :shame: Look at some old footage before you are quick to talk
s.hyt. The Bayou classic wasn't the number one hbcu classic for nothing. Grambling used to run the 80's easy. Hey, that was their time........can't knock em. Jackson was some heavy hitters as well.
Now lets be real, say what you want about any band but, Grambling by far is not sorry. Neither is Jackson. Some bands have their year and some don't. I can remember a time when Alcorn handed out plenty of Azz whoopins. How soon we forget. Non the less, people have a good season and all of a sudden think they are the s.hyt. Nothing wrong with school pride, but it becomes a problem when pride is replaced with Ignorance. Anyone can easily find the EXACT same flaws in JSU, just as they did in Grambling. The thing is, when one group is in the majority on this board, it gives the
appearance that their viewpoints are more valid. A very common trait among
niggery so I'm not at all suprised. Let some people tell it, they never receive an "L". Lets also remember, "just because you haven't been to the beach in life doesn't mean your lake is the s.hyt" Only the intelligent will understand that comment. Rivalry is always expected and appreciate. After all, We are the
SWAC, a very powerful HBCU conference built on a tradition of pride, excellence, superiority. Notice, ignorance is not one of our traits. Old skool, teach the new skool CORRECTLY and not just how to talk s.hyt when they "think" they are better, and this goes for all our programs. Also, lets learn to clean our own back yard rather than worry about others. Until we can give a flawless show, make your mirror your best friend. In the name of "rivalry", keep it fun of course, and
talk s.hyt......but don't
talk s.hyt.
