Maryland Senior All-Star Football Game
Dorman Makes Most Of Passing Talent Show
East 48, West 31
By Jake Schaller
Special to The Washington Post
Saturday, July 10, 2004; Page D08

TOWSON, Md., July 9 -- Potomac (Md.) High graduate Harold Dorman did not have as much time on the field as he would have liked Friday night in the second annual Maryland Football Coaches Association senior all-star football game.

But Dorman made the most of his seven pass attempts, completing four for 167 yards and two touchdowns to lead the East team to a 48-31 victory over the West. The margin likely would have been bigger, but because of a rule designed to keep the game close, the West got the ball back after scoring touchdowns twice in the second half.

"I didn't like that rule because that messed up my time to shine for the fans," Dorman said.

He was impressive enough on his four completions. He threw touchdown passes of 29 and 33 yards, respectively, to Courtney Knight (Lackey) and Richard Abney (Forestville). He escaped a collapsing pocket, threw while being hit but still got the ball to Jasmond Walker (Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) on a play that covered 62 yards. And he showed his arm strength on a 43-yard strike to Quinton Brown (Douglass), heaving the ball 55 yards in the air while running right.

Second part of the article:

"He's a great quarterback," Abney said. "He's elusive. He gives you a chance to get open, and he's got an arm."

For the game, played in front of approximately 2,000 at Towson University's Johnny Unitas Stadium, the East and West teams were divided roughly by Interstate 95. The East team included players from Prince George's, Southern Maryland and Anne Arundel counties; Montgomery, Howard and Frederick players suited up for the West.

The West won last season's inaugural game, 29-16.

Friday night's game took 3 hours 7 minutes to complete, thanks in large part a flurry of flags and a shoving match in the fourth quarter that nearly cleared the benches. The teams combined for 22 penalties that covered 203 yards, and that did not include a slew that were declined.

Dorman was one of three area quarterbacks who played. East teammate Sean Schaefer, an All-Met from Northern, completed 3 of 10 passes for 46 yards, including an 18-yard strike to Abney early in the second quarter. The West's Zach Hayes (Linganore), a late addition to the game, ran five times for 35 yards and completed 5 of 8 passes for 97 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Sounds like A&M has gotten themselves a good one.
Hopefully he will bring the same enthusiasm to AAMU... He picked AAMU over SU, Hampton, Wake Forest and Temple.......

this is something else I found on the net...

He tormented defenses with his elusiveness, but also demonstrated the ability to throw deep. In 14 games, Dorman completed 110-of-232 passes for 2,343 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also was the Wolverines' leading rusher with 697 yards and nine touchdowns. In the state title game, Dorman accounted for 279 yards and all four Potomac touchdowns, including three scoring passes. "Nobody else in the county made as much happen as Harold did," said Knight, who has coached 19 seasons in the county. "He's the best overall football player I've ever coached."

I was gonna ask the same thing....there is reason why he went to AAMU. Seriously...and I ain't trying to smack.

Harold Dorman, QB
5-11, 160, Temple Hills, Md.
Threw for 2,661 yards, 27 touchdowns and just eight interceptions at Potomac HS ... Was named first-team All-State and All-Metro by the Washington Post ... Finished 28-5 as a starter with two state final appearances.

From my understanding, he got some looks from a couple of I-A schools, but they wanted him to come in as an "Ath", but I guess he wanted the opportunity to play QB. He may end up at WR or DB at A&M b/c the QB from Mobile (Jones, I believe) may be the best QB to sign w/ them. Unless he made great strides in the classroom last spring, he'll be a prop this year, so he still has some work to do off the field in Huntsville.

I knew there was a reason....kekekeke

Wait until a SWAC LB gets their hands on his little 160 lb arse.

Oh well. Congrats on signing the dude.... snicker.

Post your source for this information. I'm not arguing whether it's right or wrong, but you need to provide more than your understanding for this to have any merit.

I have seen different stats on him... I have seen in the Washington post where he was 6'2 180.... also how many times has a SWAC linebacker touched an AAMU quarterback recently????? AAMU sacked/hit JSU's quarterback more times in ONE game than AAMU's qb was sacked/hit in the whole season.

Dude Wake and Temple don't want a 160 lb QB....they have enough problems as it is. SU supposedly already has a stable of good QB waiting....snicker....

That only left Hampton and AAMU. I am sure no one else wanted him....not to play QB anyway. That's just common sense.

Our QB was not 160 and we still won 4 out 5.

Carry on.

They haven't let you in the private forum, yet?

Are you trying to divert the attention from the subject at hand? Maybe you think this thread would lead to comments that would ultimately compare AAMU's qbs with those signed by JSU.

I had an article saved on this kid from a local Maryland publication dated around signing day. It was my intention to post it, but it won't pull up now. So I was just going off of memory.......it may not be 100% accurate, but I'm sure someone from your camp has came across it as well. DAHILL mentioned Wake Forest, and they were one of the schools that was looking at him as an athlete. Don't know (or can't remember) if they offered him or not, though.

You would not EVEN want to go there.
