91 and 97 over 96 and 99???? I guess...

I marched in 97...They are too many tapes I will not show everyone...If you notice the only tape of 97 in circulation is Alabama ST. game....lol...

Homecoming we broke down on ..."Sweet Love" and everything after that, Old heads were PISSED...lol
Celestine mad some of the ugliest faces I've seen in my life....lol

Book was shot, Knighten and Jackson was barely writing that year.

99 had waay more work than 97 and more stanima...And more consistant..

You name me any tape besides SU/ASU 97 where we went off in 97 honestly...What we did during the game was what SU always do...JSU there wasn't no fifth..SO there really isn't a tape from that game....

I know crazy arse Sam! :lmao: I did not know that nutt could sing until 94. (Those Damn Red socks with his band uniform :lmao: :lmao: ) I am sitting at this desk laughing at clown, right now. He wasn't in the squad with me that year. Winston,(from the NO), T-bone with the now "Soul Rebels," marched next to me that year. I think Sam marched #1 Squad 1 1994. I stand corrected. I can't remember who marched in that spot in 93.

92 was so band, I can't remember anything we played that entire year. 95 and 97 was better than 96 though. :ebrow:

Yeah I have bandroom footage of '92 and '93....ugh....when I got it I had to listen to it on headphones because I didn't want my roomate to hear and say "You played in THAT?"

When I hear footage of '95-'97 there was much more continuity and control.

lol...you sure about 93 SMUT.....93 was tight!!!! they had CONTROL and stanima, and Balance....

The best..."Who DO I Turn to" ever.....lol....and OMG that "BABY I'm YOURS"..
"Left every Voice" was off the chains that year too..

you may be talking about 91 and 92.....lol

93 is pretty much at the top of my list of the 90's

Dang Jared u stay criticizing '97. True we didn't play with as much power and intensity as '99, but that's because we didn't have to. Except for tubas, we were pretty deep on every instrument. 16 b-tones???????? Come on now...all u have to do is look at that SU/ASU game or the SU/JSU game to see what that band was capable of. '97 playing at 75% was still more powerful than '99 at 100%. And you know I'm right because we both played in both bands. '97 was still riding the wave that '95 started, that's all.

And he did it everytime he song!! :lmao: Doc kept saying," I am going to zip his arse the next time he wear those GD socks!"

Iono, 97 isn't too far off from 92 to me as far as quality..I call a spad a spad..Even if I marched in the band...Smut how many games we stayed more than 3 songs in a fifth?

97 pecked EARLY.....there is no game in 97 that compares to Alabama St. You forgot I marched in that band to...After 4 songs 99 would have had a field day with 97....99 was cleaner, and played with more style..

Sorry Smut I won't talk bad about 92 than sugar coat 97...we were loud as fugg but QUALITY wise if you are looking for that....97 do not fit in the same boat with 93, 94, 95, 96, 98, or 99......97 wasn't as bad as 92 because 92 trumpets were straight butchering the band that year....T-BONES was the band in 97..97 got the next band mind right, but if you are comparingwhat band sound better, 97 is out of that..The directors let all kind of shat slide, not saying it was the crabs fault, alot of it was the upperclassmen wilding out and Knighten saying Fugg it..

Knighted was on every eight rest in 95 and 96 even more so in 95

Yeah I see what you're saying about '97 but look at it from a band's point of view as opposed to strictly a trumpet player's point of view.

Trombones- outstanding
Baritones- outstanding
tubas- good despite being undersized
mellos- sick...almost as good as those '96 and '98 sections.

See I used to think that '98 was one of the best SU bands. That band had probably the most talented and most powerful mello sections in SU history(if u can find a section outside of '96 that can compete please tell me). But I was basing that '98 season off of that one section, which isn't accurate. Overall those '95-'97 bands were the best in the '90s, not trumpet-wise, but overall.

98 F-horn section by far was the most aggressive section to come threw there, and that is mainly because of Ronald wilding out. Which kinda hurt the band totall sound in some cases, and helped in some.

It's not just the trumpet section that wasn't playing with style and together. The Baritone Section was massive by size that year, but didn't sound it size on most sounds...They sounded their size mainly on rap tunes...T-bones were just the muscle of the band that year....lol...

The overall sound wasn't bad, it was a powerful net sound...But I was mainly drove because I knew we could have been cleaner much cleaner.... I guess I am real picky when it comes to that SMUT...This ain't nothing new, I was batching to them the whole 97 year about it... How they would wait on certain parts and drop out...

I guess I am too picky Smut..Iono...

Goose no longer on SU Staff?

Dayum.

If I wasn't sure I was an old man, it has been officially confirmed by this thread. (I don't mean to resurrect a thread that is old and stanky but I'm tripping!)

I remember when Goose was a senior at St. Aug! :lecture: I crabbed (and pledged) under his older brother BYRON Augustine who pledged Zeta Nu in Fall, '78. (His line was "The Dynamic Duo" and his line name was "Robin!)

To you younger Bros., don't laugh -- one day, you too will fall prey to bad backs, gray hair, diminished eyesight and the belief that YOUR version of the Jukebox was the baddest that ever was!

I remember thinking..."Shaaaaaaat, it's over...oh well 5-6-7-KICK." Step 1 was off the chain...

I know Byron Augustine, real cool man. He is part of our ALL PRO marching band staff here in New Orleans we trying to get off the ground.

I thought Byron crabbed n 78, I guess it was 77.... Branford Marcelis crabbed in 78 with you?

I heard 78 was a hellavu band, I am still trying to get some 78 footage...
