lol...he didn't even do that...he had crabs to do that.
But surely Mr. Knighten or Mr. Jackson wouldn't want to personally be dealing with getting students into school. Goose does a lot of the dirty work, so to speak.

It was times I was in the BAND and DOC fugging arse FORGOT to set up something for us to eat!!!!! BUT who was there to save the day 100% of the times...GOOSE!!!!!!
Goose used my cell phone to make a call to see the WHOLE band had something to eat while we were on the road...Although I didn't ask he shoved me $5 for the call.
He is the one that got all of us sleeping arrangements when we went out of town.. DUde it was time some people didn't have no where to SLEEP... BUT guess who was UP 3:00am until EVERYONE had some where to lay ther heads?
Come on naw, that ain't even the HALF....
Ain no anybody can do all of that...REMEMBER if every don't get in school YOU ain't going to have much of a band....
Gooses practically was the one to keep the people that was on the edge of saying FUGG it to stay until he worked tins out to get them in school.

Will someone answer the darn question? Calm down. It ain't Doc's job to book hotels, keep up with uniforms, write music, whip eyes and butts, etc... An assistant has taken Doc's orders, demands, guidelines, etc.. for years and handled those things for him, including the eating location(s) while on the trip. Mr. Knighten and Mr. Jackson both saw to then entire band operations being handled with their own bands for years. Whether we are a fan or "Goose" or not doesn't matter. The question is is it true that he is no longer on the staff. Responding to it hear or not isn't going to keep the word and/or rumors from speading. We all no too many people that are close to him not to hear it verbally soon. At a minimum if you give some facts, we can set the record straight when we hear it.
Example of my previous comments: Have you ever heard the story of the Jukebox traveling to Jackson in '85 on yellow school buses? The Great Roy "Funky J" Johnson was booking the buses, hotels, shapening drills, perfecting music, chief arranging, etc... and he dropped the ball on booking the buses. Doc kept warning him to book the buses weeks in advance and he didn't. It was the week of the Saints vs Falcons which booked up every bus within about a 75 mile radius to take Saints fans to Atlanta. So, we were left to those old ragedy city buses or some high school yellow buses. For the safety of our travels the yellow buses were selected. A few upper-classmen including myself and JR refused to ride on them and went in cars. I road with another LB whose car broke down on the way and we almost missed the game. Thanks to charter frat member, 1st Drum Major to bend back, Roy Barnes, who saw us on the side of the road and picked us up, we made it after begging an assistant (the great Chester White) to let us in the gate during the 1st Quarter.
Bottom-line: take a chill pill on getting uptight regarding inquiries on someone no longer working on the yard or not.

SMH. I agree with my LB ZN. Some of you younger Jukes just don't know. I had no beef with Goose and I am sure he did a good job in his capacity. ZN and I marched with Goose and there are things that went on then that yall have no idea why we say the things we do on here. Most of you were barely born. Every old Juke aint dumb and don't know what we are talking about. SO we reserve the right to our opinion. Don't take no rocket scientist to do what Goose did is all ZN is saying. Chester White did some of the same stuff. ZN is one of the closest old heads to Doc. Aint none of you as close to the black man as he is. So he is in the know on how Doc handles his business. Aint nothing changed about the black man in 30 years except his age. If he has made a change then that's up to him. I wish Goose well on his endeavors. That is why the standards are high to be a Jukebox, just as they are to be a Southernite. Do think I've been away? You can't know who I am if you think I've been away. I have and am always a champion for SU, ESPECIALLY THE JUKEBOX. I do my best to stay in touch with the students in band by be available to assist them in the Juke or with opportunities in the real world.
But again, the question is "is Goose still on staff?". Nobody is asking why he isn't if he isn't. You don't have to respond now. We all know the scope now. Man, this is a trip...

Let me go head yall right though, I marched in the 90's I am younger I don;t know nothing..Yall marched in 84 and 89 yall know wayy more than what I cats that came after me would know cause I was born in 78 and they were born in 80 or 81..... This has nothing to do with Goose losing his job, but has something to do with Goose, and since i see some 80's cats on here, i wanna see if i can get a answer to a simple question. I used to kick it with John Thomas(Nephew), and before he passed he told me Goose ratted on him and got him zipped, is this true?

Goose responsibilities from the time most of you were in the band increase...I know it was his job, and it had to be done....The man had several important connects. Put it like this, the bands I marched in owe a helluva lot thanks to Goose.

I think that the '90s vs. 80s arguement is relavent because people that marched with Goose would see him differently than people that marched under his tutelage. Jared...imagine if Zedrick or Marcel was given a asst. band director's position....better yet....someone like Troupedo...my CB. Perhaps they don't see him as the responsible figure that we saw him for, but you have to realize the kind of person that they knew Goose as.

Troupedo, Zedrick? your pulling out the archives...hell...if you came in 96 and was in band camp, you had to remember Lil Mike with the short leg from Houston who tried out for the snare. He stood up in front of the band after breakfast and started stepping for us....all you saw was heads go down and faces covered.
