2025 Football Schedules (Continued)

Seems like it was just a game for the old people. A real Homecoming. Nothing to really do with the students. It was for alumni coming home.
Maybe that's it. But it was different for us. We always took Homecoming as an opportunity to talk to alumni members and find out what it was like being on the Hill years earlier. In addition, the best musical acts were on campus as part of the Homecoming activities.

It is cool to see this happen. Because it is on a Thursday, I expect the game to air the game on ESPNU. Tulane at UTSA & Marshall at Costal Carolina are already slated to be on ESPN & ESPN2. The game could not be played on Saturday in Philly because Temple has a home game with ECU. I really hope this game has a good attendance. Thursday Night Football (Ravens - Dolphins) and the World Series could present challenges with viewership.

AAMU band travels to Valley… they came here and every since AAMU has gone there.

When you are popping off at the damn mouth and not knowing what the hell you are talking about instead of worrying about what's going on at Lynch Street

Valley traveled 6 hours to AAMU in 2021 and AAMU returned the favor in 2022 (on a Thursday night game) and the cycle repeated in '23 and '24

Outside of Bethune (and maybe the Texas), there really isn't an excuse for the other schools (and they have come). The Hornets owe Valley a trip in 2025 since they haven't been in a while and Southern hasn't traveled to Itta Bena since 2006 I believe (they were supposed to come in 2021 but the home game moved to Jackson)

@In_The_662 - Thanks for sharing. Glad to see everything was signed, sealed and delivered for this contest in Atlanta.
I have two questions:

1. Is the 4 PM Kickoff Central or Eastern Time?
2. Do you have an idea of what time Mississippi Valley's home opener against Southern will kickoff at?

1) I had the same question when they announced the time. For now, I'm gonna assume CST

2) No announced time yet

GOTCHA!

1. Thanks for the response. I was wondering about the time in Atlanta because FBS Schedules.com had it as 5 PM , but the school was saying 4 PM.

2. I guess everyone is still working on that season opening kickoff time. My contacts at SU don't know and my buddy Stephen Robinson in Greenville has been trying to find out for me as well.

What began as heavy speculation became official on June 27. Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU) announced a major change to its 2025 HBCU football schedule, specifically the game against Florida A&M University (FAMU).

Following an impromptu announcement by FAMU AD Angela Suggs, the MVSU athletics website, the school confirmed the plan.

“Mississippi Valley State University Athletics is proud to announce that our 2025 football clash with FAMU, originally scheduled to be played at Rice–Totten Stadium in Itta Bena, will now take place at Atlanta’s iconic Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, October 4, 2025.”

The news immediately created a buzz in the HBCU football community. With new athletic director Alecia Shields-Gadson taking the reins and head coach Terrell Buckley leading the Delta Devils, excitement around MVSU was at its highest in decades. That momentum was fueled by MVSU’s stunning November 16 victory over FAMU. A win that snapped the Rattlers’ 23-game home winning streak, the longest in FCS football at the time. It was the first victory over FAMU in school history.

Confusion Over Tickets and Event Details

However, when fans began calling the MVSU ticket office, they were met with uncertainty. A representative said details about the event were still “forthcoming.” Further questions revealed that the department had no knowledge of the specifics for the proposed Atlanta game.

A similar story came from Florida A&M’s athletics office. “The game is Mississippi Valley’s home SWAC contest. All information about the game must come from their office,” a staff member explained. This meant FAMU’s ticket office — which often sells away-game tickets for the convenience of Rattler fans — had no additional information either.

This isn't on the new AD but the previous AD/basketball coach (who wasn't good at either job) and the doofus president/frat brother

This news needs to come out fast so people can really see the dumb stuff goes on at Valley

Venue Schedule Raises Doubts

Seeking confirmation from the venue, we contacted Mercedes-Benz Stadium directly. Their published events schedule for late 2025 through 2026 did not list the MVSU vs. FAMU game. The absence of the matchup from one of the nation’s premier football venues raises doubts about whether the event was truly confirmed, even though the Celebration Bowl isn’t listed either.

🤪

So are we going to get an official announcement? lol What is wrong with these schools

As previously said, this is what happens when you have a doofus president who ran off a successful AD and replaced him with his frat who pretty much did nothing for over a year. Hakim was not gonna go for him taking athletic scholarships and giving them to the band (which is also why he fired Wade because he didn't want to give up scholarships from the graduating seniors. Buckley needed some of those scholarships back so they took some from the women's basketball team)

If I'm Valley, play the game in the Delta. Help the local community make some money.

FAMU doesn't travel to Itta Bena. This has been proven by their 2 games that they have had to come to Valley (I've been to both)

If the game stays in ATL (which for now it will), they'll have no excuses. There are no circumstances in which Valley should have more attendance than any school on the road
