Republicans Must Answer for ‘Great Replacement Theory’ Violence

Republicans and the conservative media ecosystem have to answer for the blood on their hands.

Either through innuendo or direct statements, they continue to promote the white supremacist “great replacement theory” which has yet again radicalized a terrorist to commit violence against people of color. And they should be held accountable for their role in it.

We’re still learning more about Payton Gendron, the 18-year-old suspected terrorist who killed 10 people in a racially motivated attack in Buffalo. However, it’s clear from his alleged manifesto that “great replacement theory,” which is now a mainstream GOP talking point, continues to radicalize men to commit violence. And yet some Republican leaders and conservative pundits continue to promote this hate for sake of votes, profit, and ratings.

Enough is enough. Until Republican leaders and conservative media stars explicitly renounce this white supremacist conspiracy, condemn it, and disassociate from its peddlers, it’s fair to conclude they are entirely complicit with its message.

The Right Hates Lori Lightfoot But Loves Trump—I Wonder Why

Journalists and reporters must repeatedly hound Republican officials with follow up questions about this national security threat. Recall that Democrats and President Joe Biden still are asked about “defunding the police,” even though it is not a mainstream DNC position, or about critical race theory (CRT) panic even after it was revealed to be a bad-faith trojan horse created by right-wing activists to incite racial panic and anxiety.

Leading up to the election, any journalist worth their weight must doggedly ask every Republican elected official the following questions:

“Do you believe in the replacement theory?”

“Do you condemn the replacement theory, or do you support the ideology that has inspired numerous mass terrorists?”

“If you do condemn it, then why are you and your colleagues repeating it?”

The Buffalo Shooter Isn’t a ‘Lone Wolf.’ He’s a Mainstream Republican

There’s no such thing as a lone wolf — an appellation often given, in error, to terrorists who act alone, particularly those of the white supremacist variety. There are only those people who, fed on a steady diet of violent propaganda and stochastic terror, take annihilatory rhetoric to its logical conclusion.

Such was the case on Saturday, when a teenaged white supremacist named Payton Gendron opened fire in a supermarket in a Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York, killing ten people, while livestreaming the carnage on the live-video site Twitch. Prior to the shooting, he had posted a 180-page manifesto in which he laid out his rationale clearly: He was an adherent of what is called Great Replacement Theory, the idea that white people, in the United States and white-majority countries around the world, are being systematically, deliberately outbred and “replaced” by immigrants and ethnic minorities, in a deliberate attempt to rid the world of whiteness. It’s a conspiracy theory that has inspired terror attacks in New Zealand and Pittsburgh, San Diego, and El Paso – an ideology that marries demographic panic with the idea of a cunning, nefarious plot. Reading through the document, what struck me hardest, however, was how very close the killer’s ideas were to the American mainstream – the white-hot core of American politics.

A coward white boy who killed a bunch of older defenseless black people in a supermarket...he knew who to try he was too scared to go where the action was at.

He would have probably been welcome with open arms. Honestly, I don't understand the love/lost we have with oppressor.

It's like with black women demonizing Kevin Samuels. But, they don't have any smoke for Maury Povich and Jerry Springer.

Just like you have no smoke for the conservative cracka politicians and media who spew white supremacist rhetoric daily that inspires these types of tragedies.

Should we blame the media for the lyrical poison that continues to fuel the black male Genocide, or thot-culture in our community.

Look, these people have been terrorizing black people for the last 400 years. But, we always give them a pass due to our "forgiveness" from Christianity.

SMH. The Democrats are using this tragedy for political gains.
That's how the political game works.

Both; get the Toms yes, but stay focused our main enemy because they are surely focused on us.

A white boy shoots up a store full of black people and you come on here with a Storm Front ass post bashing black people under the guise of "we need to do better" when it really is expounding anti-black sentiment on your part.

Stop! When Dylan Roof did that mass shooting in Charleston, South Carolina? Who was the president at the time?

What did he do on the Legislative side to prevent another one?

We've got to look beyond these parties and focus on the issues that affect the Black man, woman, and child in the U.S. specifically and the world generally. So if an issue is helped by the independents, good.

Thank you. We have to break away from these organizations are doing more harm than good.

What has ANY POTUS done? We've had schoolkids shot. We've had politicians shot. We've had folks at concerts, movies and malls shot. Nothing has changed. We live in a racist society wherein the face of naked racism and naked violence -- whether it's committed by an 18-year-old white boy or white police officers -- our government (no matter the party they represent) will downplay it and deny their complicity in it continuing. They all gaslight us by saying BS like "we need to come together" instead of dismantling the structural racism that produces this violence again.
