It's called politics at Southern. I hope the new governor make some good appointments to the board whenever those terms expire. Even when I was there, SU's Faculty Senate has always worked hard to keep the academic side together. SU have/had some really great professors, but its leadership was always in question. Dr. Spikes probably was the only President that left Southern with a likable reputation and from what someone told me on here, she was at odds with our current governor (Buddy Roemer) at that time during her tenure, which is why she retired and left. Politics has always been SU's problem. SU (Alumni, Students, Faculty Senate, etc.) should start now to push for better leaders that those fools in the state capital appoint to the Board.
