Yeah my cousin who is a Illinois alum has been texting me about this. I was like DAMN. But Champaign is not Chicago. I will just leave it at that. You got some pockets at these Midwest schools that are racist just like any other PWC. Purdue and Indiana are other ones. I know I will make my boys who are Michigan fans cringe. Ann Arbor is suspect too. Some of those folks just can't help themselves. But this was a different deal though. More than just racism. It was was just a crazy mofo who should not be coaching.

Yes, he lost political support, but with Mizzou being the state's flagship institution, this came down to image and most importantly, MONEY. And with basketball season just a coupe of weeks away, this would have carried over to the basketball team too.
Isn't it amazing how black students at PWIs will protest for equal acceptance, while black students at HBCUs protest for minimal funding? Which is worse or better?

Yeah I know. I was just going to edit my statement by clarifying that even though their are those groups they aren't created because of being excluded
I doubt it. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that black students (who are not athletics) at Mizzou started the protest but it didn't get nearly the attention it did unitl after the football team joined the effort.

I believe the arguments have the same merit. Although the latter would be framed as HBCU students protest for maintaining services as the schools continue having to make cuts

You're right. Students have been at this for months. The hunger strike started last week. The shit really hit the fan when the football players joined in, the student leadership (with a black student body president) increasing their displeasure and the faculty walking out.
