Ohio State's Cordell Jones is looking like a damn fool

For going to the NFL last year. Dude could have been a potential Top 10 pick. Now this mofo is back riding the bench at Ohio State. Kids better learn when you're hot, muck college, go make that money.

Ohio State to start J.T. Barrett over Cardale Jones this weekend

J.T. Barrett will start at quarterback for Ohio State against Rutgers on Saturday, coach Urban Meyer told reporters Tuesday.

Meyer called the switch from Cardale Jones a "difficult decision" but attributed his decision to how Barrett played last week.

"Just sheer production," Meyer said. "Cardale is going to be a very active part. Hopefully we'll keep him very much involved. It was a difficult decision, but the red-zone production and third-down production were the two areas that made the difference. [Barrett] earned that with the way he played Saturday."

Barrett's 83.3 red zone completion percentage is more than 50 percentage points higher than Jones', according to ESPN's Stats & Information. In the past two weeks, Barrett has been almost flawless in the red zone, leading the Buckeyes to scores on all 12 possessions, with touchdowns on 11 of them.

Barrett ran for 102 yards on 11 carries in last weekend's 38-10 win over Penn State, scoring two touchdowns in the red zone in the first half and throwing two TD passes in the fourth quarter. Jones started the game but was only 9-for-15 for 84 yards, and was benched in favor of Barrett in the second half.

No he is not. He was not a First round guy anyway. He will get his degree if he hasn't already. He is SET FOR LIFE IN C-BUS. He will NEVER have to worry about a good paying job in the state after what he did last year. He will be well taken care of. Ask Troy Smith. Even Maurice Clarett. LOL.

As for the NFL. He will get his shot. Someone will take their chance on him and draft him. Hell I hope my Steelers give him a look to develop behind Big Ben.

Like Jag4Life said, he would have been exposed in the combine had he come out. He needs to work on his accuracy.

He would've have gotten paid for looking foolish. Draft analyst were right. When You hot You gotta leave school cause staying only hurts You.

Nah. He would have went to the combine and thrown inaccurately and then his stock drops even further. He will be fine. Dude is going to be a six figure cat no matter what. Trust me on that. Only thing can mess him up is if he don't graduate or gets himself into some trouble. But as long as he does the right things with his life. He will be a forever hero in Ohio. They will make sure he is good financially. You can't hide your weakness from the NFL. They still have him as the 3rd or 4th best QB on their list. So obviously the NFL is still looking at him. He was never going to be drafted in the first round last year. As bad as the Cleveland Browns QB situation is with Johnny Football screwing up off the field and not doing nothing on it. I would not be shocked to see them pick their hometown kid.

Exactly....it may not be NFL money but it will damn shole be GOOD money.

He would have been exposed in the pre-draft evaluation process.

No way. He played great in every game he started last year which included Nick Saban's Alabama team. He wouldn't have thrown at the NFL combined, but at Ohio State's draft day.

Jones was the hottest college quarterback in the nation at the end of the season. He was a locked to go in the first round which had a weak quarterback class. The Browns would have taken him with the 12th picked.

A 6'5" 250 QB? Umm, yeah some fool would've drafted him just off his vitals. You know GM are desperate to make a "splash" draft pick. He'll still get a shot but he should've left! An NFL bench rider makes $400k dollars PRACTICING. Would've been a no brainer for me.

Johnny Manziel was a complete disaster last year for the Browns while Jones just lead Ohio State to the NC. Man they would have drafted Jones with the quickness.
Cleveland wasn't even looking at Cordell. And they're STILL not, so this is a moot discussion.

He would have gone through evaluations and gotten scrutinized like every other QB. The issues he has are likely related to reading defenses and decision-making. That would have been uncovered in the interview process. Yeah he probably would have thrown well at his pro day but that is scripted. He would have been drafted no earlier than the 4th or 5th round. He'd be getting paid, though.

Now he will definitely stay at OSU for next season and likely go to a QB coach over the summer to get better and to gain more understanding.

Cleveland didn't even take Manziel with the 12th pick. They waited for later in the round and took him. Cardale is going to be fine. I really don't think teams were going to take him as high as you think. Not after 3 games. That is not enough to spend a first round pick on. When you can get him later.

Nope. He is done at Ohio State. He ain't coming back. JT Barrett is just a Redshirt SOPH. Plus Urban has 2-3 young guys behind them who were top prospects. Gibson from Florida moved to WR to get playing time, but he is struggling to keep his grades up. So he may or may not pan out at OSU. The Steve Young like white boy who was a high recruit is getting redshirted. The 3rd string kid is a 6'4 brother from GA who they like. Then Urban has that big brother from DeSoto Tx coming next year. Can't house all them QBs. I expect the white boy and the kid from Desoto to battle for the spot behind JT next season. Cardale will graduate and then enter the draft. He will have to hire a QB coach for the combine and such. But him playing another year at Ohio State is out of the question I believe. If he can't beat JT out now. He sure ain't next season.

He should've went pro point blank!! A degree thats good but nfl pay check a paper degree cant match. You have to take care of self first so u can help others in life!! I love LSU but i dont blame none of those kids for leaving LSU for the pros u can always go back to school!!

One hit wonder and was not ready for the NFL!

End of story. He'd be a 1st-2nd round pick getting PAID to learn the NFL game on the bench instead of not getting paid (legally) and now his stock has plummeted and his every move is scrutinized when at least if he was on a roster he would be getting paid to get scrutinized. Ohio State benefits from him returning not Cardale short or long term.

Jones was the hottest quarterback in college football at the end of last season and folks talking about he should have came back. That dude will have to change positions now to get drafted. He is hot garbage now. SMH. Him and his family need their azz whipped.

Where do see his stock plummeted ? And no one was taking him in the first round after 3 games. Lol. You don't think they did their homework on that? He was projected at best a late second round pick. He is still the 3rd best prospect coming out according to the so called experts. The kid is going to be fine. They will fine him a 100k a year job and no kid of his will ever have to pay to go to Ohio State. Dude is set unless he goes off the deep end. Them fools done paid for Troy Smiths MBA and gave him a job at Ohio State. Just like they made up a six figure job for Eddie George that he didn't need. Just like they have hooked up Archie Griffin for years. Same as they have had Clark Kellogg on the Board forever. Same as they got Jimmy Jackson and Joey Galloway gigs on Big Ten Network and ESPN. Want even mention Herbstreit. Lol. That's how they roll in Cbus. Cardale going to get a better job doing nothing than a lot of us got after 20 years in our fields.

No he is not. Sheesh. Dude was not going high as you cats think. Kiper or McShay had him going on day 2. Which he still might. He has not had a bad year and he has no Devin Smith to showcase his arm. He can't change positions. He can't run fast enough to play TE. And his family don't have a worry in the world. This ain't Michigan. Ohio State take care of their legendary players. Dude was not going to get a big NFL deal. You don't get those with the rookie cap. He wasn't going to be drafted in the top 5 over Winston and Mariota. Y'all think those NFL teams are dummies. They would have waited to the second day to grab him. Johnny football only went because they thought he could sale tickets.

These people crazy if u think Cardale shouldnt went pro. Crazy. This dude could b atleast doing what Taverus Jackson doing in the league. Smh

He is going to get drafted. You cats act like he ain't getting drafted now. Lol. Where are you getting that? He will still get picked by someone on day 2 of the draft.
