Ohio State's Cordell Jones is looking like a damn fool

Again, show me what NFL scouts have said his draft stock is low. Urban got him. Okay. Cardale made his own decision to come back. Urban was going to be fine with JT Barrett coming back or even if he decided to go with Miller. You do realize there are 2 prospects on the bench who have come to Ohio State with more hype than Cardale did. I still can't believe folks discount Zeke Elliott being the REAL difference maker those 3 games. He allowed the deep ball to be there due to everyone lining up to stop him. Which they failed at. Dude had a season of stats in those last 3 games. That's why he was MVP.

And obviously you have not been watching the games. Cardale has had trouble with accuracy and he has had the offense bogg down outside and inside the redzone. The team has a different bounce to it with JT. It's really his team. Urban gave Cardale his chance when all the experts were saying Urban should have put JT in from jump street. JT is more of student of the game than Cardale. He is still maturing somewhat even though he is older. That's what the NFL folks would have found out if he had declared last year when the interviews and such would have taken place. Barrett is a film junkie. Even the players WHO love Cardale, wanted Barrett to be the starter. He has command of the team. Urban really had a tough decision. One thing for sure. The atmosphere around that team is good because those guys wanted to stay.

Redzone inefficiency can be the difference between Ohio State repeating as champs or losing to Michigan State and Michigan to end the regular season. Why would you continue to start someone that has been horrible in the redzone when you have another QB that has been able to lead you to big scores in the redzone?
 
Cordalle played himself.... Again I say they are undefeated. Urban talked him into coming back and its costing him. We are talking about the RedZone and You have a pretty decent running back at your disposal to use in the Redzone. Why start Cordalle in the first place then???
 
I'm always the guy who wants these kids to get the hell out of college as soon as they can so they can actually be able to get paid to kill themselves.

But, it would have been risky for him to enter the draft after only playing in three games.

It's possible he could have been a third round pick or something like that, but it is just as possible that he could have gotten cut, too because he's tremendously raw.

If Jones played RB/WR or TE, then it would be a no brainier to go the league. QB, though, is a different animal. Dude needs as many game reps as he can get to get better as a QB.

Why do you insist that Urban talked him back. Urban did not talk him back into school. He didn't need to. LOL. It ain't like the cupboard was bare at QB. Hell if Cardale had left, it only made it easier for Urban. LOL. You act like JT Barrett and Braxton Miller were chumps and Cardale was better than them. Like I said, people got caught up in the magical 3 game run and anointed him being better than the other two. Which those guys had more games under their belt and had shown they were no 2- 3 game wonder. Ohio State's team stepped up during that run. Wasn't just Cardale. The WRs, the RB, the defense. The OL was dominant.

If you had heard the real experts on Ohio State, they all said when JT got healthy he was the better QB. Herbstreit and Galloway both said it way back in the spring. Folks knew Cardale was not the complete package for that offense. Right now, I believe Braxton Miller could throw the ball and be effective. Dude just didn't want to go to the NFL. I don't even know how interested he is in the next level. He is kind of different cat anyway. Good kid. But just a little different. He has not totally matured to be ready for that next level. He has his comfort zone at Ohio State where he is treated like a hero in the Ohio community. Dude was in no rush to be drafted and go deal with all the pressures of being the so called savior of a franchise. Cardale knew what he was getting into. Urban told everyone that asked that their will be competition for the QB position. That in a nutshell should have told Cardale it ain't your job because of those 3 games. The only guy I think got talked to was Braxton. He changed positions when no one else knew it. Urban and him are real close. So if anyone got talked about staying it was Braxton.

Exactly. Folks act like those NFL folks would have just looked at those 3 games and said oh well we got to draft him HIGH. Like they wouldn't have worked him out and interviewed the crap out of him. Talk to his coaches etc. It was a reason why he was behind Braxton, then when JT came, sat behind him.

Sometimes or a lot of times, staying in school can be a good move. Jones will get drafted and will be making a lot of money.

Just a FYI, Aaron Rodgers did have some weaknesses. However, his talent was undeniable. Mike McCarthy took him to Quarterback School and worked on his mechanics because they were off. The years he sat out were really helpful for his development. He was not ready to come in and be a starter from Day 1.

1. The available QBs in this draft. (There is no Mariota or Winston at all in this draft)
2. Where the scouts got him ranked still even after being on the bench
3. The fact he will get a chance to actually play in the Sr Bowl

2. My Steelers ( we suck at backup. Cardale is perfect to play behind Big Ben.) Offense fits him with a good RB and plus we like Ohio State players
3. The Texans ( All their Qbs suck)
4. Chargers (need a back up to Rivers)
5. Jets (Geno will not be long there) Fitzpatrick just holding the spot down for now.
6. Cardinals ( No one great behind Carson Palmer)
7. Cowboys (self explanatory based on their performance without Romo)
8. Eagles ( They don't fit his game, but they have a brittle QB)
9. Saints (Brees is old and no backup there)
10. Detroit ( Stafford might start hearing whispers of him being traded)
11. Chicago (Cutler ain't cutting it)
12. Giants ( Eli is no spring chicken, same draft class as Rivers and Big Ben and he is older than them) So they need a backup too.
13. Redskins ( I wouldn't wish that on that brother, but they got issues at QB)
14. Rams ( Foles is there, but is he the future?)
15. San Fran (Doubt they take another inaccurate Qb, but stranger things have happened. Kap is going be traded sooner or later)

The rest have pretty much invested in a QB or have a franchise QB with a somewhat capable backup. We know Tenn, Jacksonville, Carolina, Patriots, Ravens, Green Bay, Seattle, etc have QBs they have committed too.

So Cardale has to me a better chance this year against the QB competition.

The Cal kid, Hackenberg from Penn State who is punch drunk already from all the sacks he has taken. I imagine Bill O'Brien will take him in Houston, and maybe a one or two other QBs are rated with Cardale. Cardale is the 3rd or 4th best QB prospect on most boards. Most GMs know he has to be worked with.

The thing you aint getting is his stats are not bad this season. The team just has a better bounce to it with JT. JT fits Urban's offense to the tee. Ohio State misses Devin Smith who helped take the top off Defenses in those last few games for Cardale. They have not developed that Big play down the field threat outside of Keyshawn's nephew Michael Thomas. Cardale's game is not suited for the short passing game. He is a play action type guy with the canon. So in the red zone, they get bogged down if Zeke don't take it in for them. They also miss Heuermann at TE who is in NFL now.

These scouts and NFL execs know Cardale really does not fit the Urban offense like JT. Cardale actually fits a Pro type offense better. Like I said, I would not be shocked to see my Steelers take him in Day 2. When I went to the preseason game against Green Bay, those folks up there were moaning and groaning about Landry Jones. No arm strength so that means he can't get the ball deep. Cardale is perfect for Pittsburgh. Almost taylor made. If he is still on the board in the 2nd or 3rd round when they draft. I would not be shocked if they pull the trigger. I also think Cleveland is going to take a hard look at him in those rounds as well. Those cold weather teams know he can throw the ball in that muck.
 
As someone who keeps up with the Buckeyes, wife is an OSU grad, Jones will get drafted on Day 2. He is a good, not great quarterback, who needs a pro style offense to fit his skill set.

Like JR said, he misses Devin Smith. And everyone will see Elliott is going to miss Jones. Barrett is more of a dual threat quarterback than Jones. He does not mind running. Jones just needed that explosive receiver and they thought Braxton or Thomas would be that, but they haven't. Barrett is going to lead them to the playoffs, but I think Elliot's production is going to fall a bit.
