I never said I agreed with the video; actually I am in disagreement with it as they should have done a fair representation of our student body meaning add some black students in the piece to give a TRUE reflection of what the university is (historically and predominantly black).
 
Richard Sherman & Ray Lewis could move mountains to help this cause, but instead they're only looking out for themselves...just like many other black folks who "make it."

Both of them and everyone else who caters to white supremacy can burn in hell as far as I'm concerned.

I totally agree. I don't think they are coons. My problem is the lies blacks as well as whites use to say black people don't care about black on black crime. That is ignorant. The same blacks who say that never attend rallies or functions supporting the fight against it themselves.

When Dr. King first came to Houston many of the "prominent" Black pastors refused to meet with him yet they benefited from his work. So it will be with Black Lives Matter. Any achievements will be enjoyed by all....supporters and naysayers alike and many naysayers will be first in line with their hands out.

As for Ray Lewis....he is still paying them back for not sending his butt to prison. He will say the Earth is flat if they want him to.
 
Black Lives Matter is a movement in a specific focus area. That is what people are missing. This long conversation about the meaning of Black Lives Matter is stupid.

For example: My foundation focuses on HIV/AIDS in Rural Communities. Am I saying that HIV/AIDS is not important in other places? Of course not. It's just that my focus is the rural parts of the country.

What bothers me is that Richard Sherman and a few others fail to grasp that perspective.

In my opinion we as black people try so much to please people because of the mistakes we made in the past, i.e. Ray Lewis and Richard Sherman. As someone noted above Ray Lewis may be pleasing these people because he should have been in prison. Sherman's antics of being called a thug etc...in front of a white reporter. Instead of straddling the fence both of them should think and know how to choose their words properly.

Another example, when I am speaking about HIV/AIDS I never discuss my moral beliefs of homosexuality. NEVER. I cut the question off quick by stating "my objective is not to determine the morality of a relationship but to assist people in practicing safe sex, going to their physicians, gaining assistance with medication, and living a comfortable and mentally positive life."

I have had Gay Organizations, churches, etc.... to try and get me on their bandwagon and missed on my money because of my stance on not getting involved with their interest.

Until BLACK FOLKS (some) realize that Black Lives Matter is a focused movement on specific issues we will continue to have this discussion.

You're right...but he did say "black on black crime" needs to be resolved first...which is basically saying, "fugg your movement."

Black folks have to start looking past the moment and look long term. His comments are not helpful at all.

You can't say "I support black lives matter, BUT" .. your "but" negates whatever soggy support you claim you have.

"I support freeing slaves, but..."
"I support giving blacks their right to vote, but..."
"I support justice for rape victims, but..."

You see how that works?
 
There are black like Clarence Thomas and Ben Carson who hate affirmative action, yet they benefitted from it. There are blacks who hate HBCU'S, yet they benefitted from them. There are blacks who hate being black, yet they use their black card when it benefits them.

I hate the term "but".....it spews of hesitation and doubt. I love you but.... I'm in school but.... I love my job but....
 
Here is the answer about the lie for you fools and self hate folks about why certain black on black crimes aren't reported by street dudes. If you are selling dope and committing crimes why would you tell on some one else if you know the same folks got dirt on you? Wouldn't you be better off just driving yourself to the funeral home or jail? Would you same folks who say this is wrong tell your wife or husband about the male/female you flirt with at work? Keep it real! It's the same thing. We pick and choose what we wanna make seem righteous.

My thing is...anybody can see why BLM sprouted. They KNOW what BLM is about. They just choose to tap-dance.

Sherman is a Sigma with a degree from Stanford. He's smart enough to know better.

We have to understand that when Sherman said that, it was coming from a place of personal tragedy, as he mentioned that he lost people close to him because of intra-racial violence, which obviously he hasn't moved past.

I think, instead of calling him names or challenging his blackness, this would be a great time for those who support BLM, to educate Sherman, because that guy seems like an open-minded, introspective cat who would be a great voice to the movement.

Sherman has been slapped on the wrist several times for speaking his mind. He has been put in his place. He has finally realized his degree from Stanford does not change his skin color.
 
There is nothing wrong with Sherman having a different opinion. Honestly, different people have different perspectives based on your personal experiences.. I support BLM. Their fight is not my primary focus but I understand it.

Being honest for a second. I live in the city limits of D.C. I have a bigger fear of a young black dude breaking in my house or trying to rob my wife than I do being shot by the police. I have a bigger fear because that is a bigger threat for me as a person. 95% of my interactions with police at this point are positive or standard protocol.

However, if the police were harassing me as I was walking home everyday or pulling me over for no reason on a regular basis, I would probably have a different outlook on life and how I view cops.

Sherman has not been put in his place, he just has an opinion on this that many black people don't agree with. He has other opinions that many white people don't agree with. Dude is his own man and own person and says what he feels regardless of how others feel, I can respect that even when I don't agree with him.
